Linda's LDN report Day 10

Post by Linda in BC »

Well, I've been taking LDN for ten days now. There is a big improvement in motility for me (food is staying in my intestines for up to 10 hours! as opposed to 2 -6.) I only had restless sleep the first two nights. Now I sleep better than I have in years and wake up feeling refreshed and with a positive mind set.
Consistency is slightly improved and continues to improve everyday, especially when I stay away from foods that I could be sensitive to. (still waiting for Entero lab results and "observing" reactions to different foods.)

Blood pressure still good without other meds. I am a little uncertain about the whole thyroid medication thing though. I have found some information in my research that says there is no clinical evidence that LDN actually affects thyroid functioning so am questioning my decision to stop taking the thyroid meds. It also said that sometimes people get an elevated heart rate, especially in the mornings, their body's reaction to increased endorphines, (and I experience this) and that this is what people think is a "hyperthyroid " reaction. Yet, the LDN.org web site specifically states that it improves functioning and that you MAY need to lower the thyroid meds, and to start off at 1.5 mg because of this. I guess "may " is the operative word... I thought I was starting to feel a little hypo the other day (had very heavy feeling in body and was very tired) but have felt fine since. I started taking a 1/2 of my normal old dosage again yesterday after reading about the heart rate thing. ( split the difference  that way I won't get too hyper or hypo which ever way I am going to go !) Can't do a TSH test for a couple of more weeks.. apparently it wouldn't show anything before then. Just have to wait and see, I guess. While hypo-thyroid symptoms are not fun, at least they are not life threatening and can be reversed in 5 days or so.

I am scheduled to see my doctor again on June 7th although may try to get in sooner to try allow enough time to get my prescription filled before I run out. I do want to continue, and may try to increase the dosage after 1 month. For me, according to body weight, I should not need any more than 3 mg.

All in all, I am happy with the slow and steady improvement in my condition with LDN. It is an interesting drug.

Cheers,
Linda

Linda
congratulations...... to feel some improvement must feel great! considering the journey you have been on to date.

:fireworks:

I can highly recommend slow and steady approach and control the urge to take big steps (i get the feeling that you and i are very similar we like to power through 'our list' of things to do) Mc has definately taught me how to be patient and not rush for a result

hope things are doing ok with the workload leading up to 30 June

take care
it is great to hear contentment in your voice (ok your typed letters  ) you sound more settled with the MC thing

Hi Linda, thank you for sharing your experience with LDN. Anything that is helping anyone is of interest here and may be something we will want to try. It sounds very promising. JoAnn

Thanks, Gabes. I have not thought about it much, but I guess I am a lot calmer and more content, and despite the deadlines and workload, am not very stressed these days. Could it have something to do with all those increased endorphins? And yes, I to am a "just get 'er done" kind of a person too , though not a perfectionist ... more of the "get a bigger hammer!" kind. Patience is not one of my natural virtues but I am learning some of it in this lifetime... :-)

Joanne, thanks for the encouragement to keep posting on my experience with taking LDN. I don't expect people to post back ( I mean, there's not much for people to say.. ("uh.. that's nice ...") when someone is just telling you what's happening) but it is good to know that at least I am not boring everyone to tears!

debriefing about your progress is really important. putting what is occuring into words helps you accept what is happening around you, see the wins however small they may be.
