I had my regular check up dr visit today with my GI. I found out that my osteo is worse in my spine than in my hips. I thought is was the other way around. Still not really bad, but now I start wondering what is good exercise for my spine, any suggestions? Also walking?
And I've asked for blood tests for other auto immune diseases, just to be sure that is all right too.
As we all know here controlling MC is a matter of self management, diet, but also finding what other health issues can be related to MC and which tests are needed exclude them (well that is more the the expertise of the GI). It is great to have a GI that is very cooperative in all my requests.
Next app. in six months.

Hi Harma,
I have osteoporosis in my spine, but osteopenia in my hip. I assume it's because I'm climbing stairs all the time in my home and my hips get more exercise than my spine.
My osteoporosis specialist said that walking is the best exercise for the spine. I also ride my bicycle and try to go over small bumps, hoping that they jar the spine into stimulating new bone growth. I don't know if my theory is correct or not. I just like riding my bike more than I like walking, I guess. I get to see more in my travels.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
okay than I will keep on walking. I already walk a lot. I try every day, but I don't always get that far, but 5 days week, yes that I make, half an hour to an hour. I live in walking distance from the city center, shops, library etc. Just far enough for a nice walk. Actually glad to hear walking is good for the spine too. I hate those machines in the gym, the wait lifting things. I know I should be good, but those things just look like torture machines. I combine my swimming now with 40 minutes walking in the gym.
Gabes, yes when I found out january this year I had an early stage of osteoporoses I was a bit in shock. It is quite common combination with celiac disease. I am almost sure my osteo is gluten related. Although no smaller intestine damage was found in my small bowel. So I hope with a gluten free diet, taking extra calcium/vit d supplements and a lot of walking the dexa scan in two years will be better. I just won't believe it is irreversible.
