I would love to read your input on this herb!! has anyone tried it? it is a bit expensive but if it works for me ill get it. Its a us link...


my DH has been speaking to some colleages at work and a project leader he works with revealed to my DH that he has colitis and it used to be so bad......they discussed me and my symptoms and they are more or less the same as his colleages...Apparently this guy had colitis for 10 yrs and wheat it his major problem amongst other foods...just like us guys..

Anyway he has given DH this product information to give me so i can consider trying it...He also said he buys in bulk!!!(IT salaries eh!!lol their loaded...)) and that i could try one of his before i wish to buy...

Now i know your thinking!!!this is a sales pitch but it isnt cos he just buys the stuff to treat his colitis,,,he doesnt sell it...he said he was really ill anf this stuff has made him well...he no longer takes medication...and has been consuming this stuff for a long time..

He also met with an employee who was always off sick with his gut and he discussed the gut problems this other guy was having. He introduced this stuff to the employee and suggested that the employee try this...The employee has tried it for a month and was amazed at how well it made him...He now also takes this stuff regularly...

Im thinking of buying it....wht have i got to lose...welll probably £85 but it will be worth it to see if its gonna help my cc and candida, mouth ulcers and everything else i may have...

This is just my opinion, and it is only worth what it's costing you - namely nothing, but when I review that site, it makes me very, very suspicious, for a number of reasons.

First, they are using dehydrated aloe leaves, and bragging on the extra effectiveness of the "long chain polysaccharides produced by their "special" process. I'm not sure that this is actually relevant, since no one seems to be in agreement about which of the polysaccharides are actually responsible for aloe's properties, nor how the process actually works. In fact, research shows that the gel actually increases permeability, which would suggest that it tends to open the tight junctions of the epithelia of the colon, which could increase IBD symptoms, rather than decrease them. IOW, no one understands how or why it "performs" in the body.

There is a lot of discussion on the web about the miraculous effect that aloe has for some people suffering from everything from Crohn's disease to hangnail, and it probably does help in some cases, but the members of this board who have tried aloe, have not, (to my knowledge, at least), reported receiving any significant benefits from it, as far as their MC is concerned. However, I doubt that anyone here has tried that particular product.

Second, they claim:

We put an incredible amount of care and attention into our product! A certified Agremist oversees the aloe fields to make sure that only healthy soil and clean water are used.

The red emphasis is mine. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an "Agremist". Probably, the author of that article was trying to say that they have an agronomist supervising their fields. If they can't even make a better guess than that, about the proper title of an agronomist, I seriously doubt that they know what they are talking about. This implies that that entire line of is probably just made up.

What aloe can do, though, (at least the gel form can do this), is to help to coat the mucosal surface of the intestines with aloe gel, to supplement the mucus that the body produces, to try to protect the mucosa from possible inflammatory agents in the fecal stream. This works, in theory, at least, but unfortunately, it is not enough to stop the inflammation, in most cases. Also, it takes a lot of aloe to have much of an effect, if it is going to actually coat the intestines effectively. The process is very similar to the way that Pepto-Bismol works, and like Pepto-Bismol, aloe does have some antibacterial properties.

I'm not saying that the product cannot have some beneficial effect, I'm just pointing out that they base their advertising on some obviously "shaky" claims, and I'm being generous by calling the claims "shaky" - they appear to be pseudo-science.

YMMV, of course. If you try it, please let us know how it works.

P S I forgot to mention the soy, until Dee reminded me. That product contains a lot of soy - about 1/3 of the total weight. That isn't good, for someone who is intolerant of soy, of course, but other than that, it shouldn't be risky to try it.

I went to the site and must say that I am in 100% agreement with Tex and would not waste my money (pounds) on it. I tried Aloe and used it for about 4 months years ago and it tasted terrible and was very expensive and did nothing at all for me. Actually, it did - I really think it made me worse.

Sorry to be negative but have been down the herbal and alternative route with this disease and really have found no relief there. Just way too many people/companies trying to make money off of sick people.

Thanks for your responses guys!! i have to say im not taken in by fads,,,ever!!the only reason i thought about this is due to my DH work colleague who has been free from medication from years by using this stuff...Its the cost thats the main issue for me...i know it shouldnt be if its going to work...but i am pretty reluctant to pay £85 for a months supply just to see if it works...i would prefer if the company gave u a sample to start with..

Its my Dh that is telling me ro try it and i really dont want to until i get more advice from u guys!! to whom i respect your opinions and advice immensely..

Hi Angy,

I would just like to say that I have indeed used and still do use Ampfloracel. And I can tell you that it absolutely without a doubt works. Now they recommend 9 pills a day but I was so bad that I doubled the dose. When I started taking Ampfloracel I had lost 75 pounds in a month and a half and I was going to the restroom upwards of 40 times a day. I was very desperate to find a natural cure and Ampfloracel is just that. It took me 90 days to see a difference and within six months all my symptoms were completely gone. Now I was stupid and quit taking it for maintaining my remission and it came back about 4 years later. I went back on it just recently and I am already seeing improvements and it has only been a week. I can tell you without a doubt to give this stuff a try and don't listen to all of the naysayers out there. You really just have to find out for yourself. I hope this helps and I wish you luck.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but one post from someone who just joined this forum today with a story that's a bit over the top sounds more like a post from someone who has a google alert for this product. Not much known about Cindy Herd from what I can see, don't see why a glam photo would be a selling point but that's just me.

If your DH's co-worker had results from this stuff then good for him. I got great results from L-glutamine and probiotics, costs a lot less and tastes fine.

Yes Stanz I would say that you are indeed paranoid. I don't typically join these groups and I happened to stumble onto this post and I wanted to offer my real worl experience as that is what she was asking for. Most people would think that it is too good to be true and I did as well but it does work. I have done the L-Glutamine and probiotics as well with no luck. Each person is different for sure but Angy you never know until you try. Funny thing is that you get these types of responses from people even though they actually seen you sick and then get better.

Mr., miss or Mrs. tquick001 who are you? Normally people joining this board introduce themselves and tell about their history. What kind of bowel disease you have? MC or something else? Maybe you have something totally different and this product does not anything for MC. Do you know anything about that? Good for you, this product is working for you. But we are here no "naysayers", in fact who do you think you are, on your first day here, in your first criticizing one of our most valuables board members. If you want to share your experiences with this miracle treatment, stick to that please.

If you haven nothing else to add, than only talk about your miracle product and criticize anyone that has a comment on it in a nasty way, could you than please leave. Nobody here is waiting for this

Call me naive, but I like to think people are telling the truth until we know for certain. If someone has lost weight and suffered going to the loo 40 time a day and found a way to remission I want to hear more. Until there is a cure for MC my mind is always open and, as we always say, we are all different in the ways we respond.

Our new board member may be just wanting to genuinely share his/her success story and now in a relapse badly needs some support. So please tell us more about yourself and welcome.

I do want to apologize for upsetting anyone. I didn't mean to criticize anyone, it just kind of hurts when someone suggests that I am lying. It is no fault of any of yours as I know that you guys do not know me from Adam and I do apologize for not introducing myself. I am just really trying to help. Anyway, my name is Tom and while I don't have MC I do have a very bad case of UC. I am 38 years old and have been dealing with this for the better part of 16 years. I have been hospitalized only once for two weeks back in 1999 and nearly lost my colon as my entire colon was ulcerated and I was not responding to meds. Well they gave me that dreaded prednisone and it got it under control. For the most part my flares only used to be every couple of years. My remission lasted until Nov 2003 and after gaining so much weight and suffering all of the side effects of these nasty drugs I was searching for a natural cure. By the time I found one (Ampfloracel) and actually rationalized in my head spending the 157.00 dollars for a bottle I was going to the BR 40 times a day. My family watched me as I was deteriorating fast and like I said I lost 75 pounds in a month and a half. By this time it was May of 04 and I was having fever and chills almost everyday and I felt like I was 90 years old. The stomach pain when having a bowel movement was almost un-bareable. It hurt so bad that I would nearly throw up or pass out everytime I had one. So I made the decision that it cannot hurt to try and I based that decision on the hundreds of testimonials and by contacting some of them (as some provided email addresses). It took until the end of July before I seen any significant changes but I did. The blood had subsided I was only going 15 times a day and my stools were starting to become more solid. I kept at it taking the 18 pills a day (for me that is what it took) until October of 04 when I was finally symptom free. I also had to follow a strict diet and use Immodium to try and slow the D but it was worth it.

Once it was gone I resumed eating and drinking anything I wanted and I didn't think I needed it anymore. Well I was wrong!!! It came back with a vengence and I tried a few other methods just to see if they would work and of course no luck for me as I was hoping to save a few bucks. I have been back on Ampfloracel for a week and I am already seeing improvement which I attribute to the fact that I am not as sick as I was before. Guys and Gals I looked like a deadman walking in 04. I know what it did for me so I am passionate about this product but I am just a person like all of you looking for answers and not a salesman or anything else trying to push this product on you. I have tried all of the drugs and natural remedies believe me and to no avail.

We say here, everybody is different and everybody has to find his or her way to find remission. I was not my intention to insult you. It is not uncommon for people selling products to mine the Internet for business purposes and your original response here was not the usual type of response we see.

Welcome to the group. I apologize for the rough start, but you have to realize that this is no ordinary discussion board - we care about each other, and we look out for each other, here, and we've been spammed with sales pitches before, so maybe we're a little gun shy about newbies bearing miracle treatments, who presume to know more about treating this disease than we do, (and that includes doctors, FWIW). We are here to learn from each other, though, so let the learning begin, (again). One of your statements interests me:

Exactly what diet you follow? The reason I ask, is because we have one or more other members with UC, who completely control their symptoms by diet alone, (the same type of diet followed by many of us with MC, who control our symptoms by diet alone).

Many of us take Entocort EC, with good results, but for some of us, it is not enough - we also have to limit our diet, in order to achieve remission. IOW, the drug helps, but it is the diet that prevents the inflammation from forming in the first place, and without the diet, the drug must be taken forever. If we are faithful to the diet, (tailored to our individual needs), then we remain in remission indefinitely, because the diet prevents the triggering of "new" inflammation.
