I hope Sunday has been a good day. I'm so glad you found that little café. Lamb is gentle on my system, also. It's one of the three meats I eat. Very expensive in the U.S., however.
Who would have thought that this trip would help you realize that casien is a new intolerance?
Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. We've all learned a lot about travelling in a foreign country with MC.
I'm sure you'll be happy to return home. It's nice to read that TK will have a Gabes meal ready when you arrive.

Polly - not sure about kissing aussie soil. I will be kissing my vast range of GF/SF/YF/DF products that i can get with minimal hassle and i will be kissing my kitchen my simplified gooey food diet will taste like heaven when i get home
Gloria - we are very lucky in australia that lamb is cheaper than beef, (and it is the same here in france as lamb is very prevalent in this region)
every restaurant cafe always has a lamb dish. one thing that is rare and expensive in australia is duck, (and i love it) so every chance i can, i have been having duck (i think i have had it 3 times now) while everyone else at the table is eating foods that i cant, i am oblivious as i am savouring beautiful duck, today when the group were having deserts, i excused myself and went wandering the shops on my own. the group understood totally and even apologised that they were ordering them (these 5 were the nice guys of the bid team ) none of the irritating ones were there
i had my treat of duck, champagne, overlooking the harbour/dock with crystal clear water in the south of france. I didnt need any more than that (and i didnt have to pay)

Dear Gabes;
I have been off-line all weekend as my daughter was here, and missed your posts about hotel move and food crises.
Sorry I was not able to chirp in and add my support and sympathy.
I hope you have got things under control again and that your next few days go smoothly, and quickly.
sendign warm, gluten/casein free food thoughts,
Linda

Morning Gabes - probably afternoon though.
I too have been off line due to very bad storms that we had last Thursday night. There are still people without power.
I want to sincerely thank you for the thorough posting you did while travelling and so admire your perserverance and dedication to your diet. Sorry about the meltdown but we have all been there one time or the other.
Presume you are on your way home now and I know what you mean about loving your kitchen.
Safe Travels and Love, Maggie

sorry to hear that you had storms and no power- that is not good at all.
Especially for us kitchen lovers and love to cook.
thanks for your hugs and support - i am less than one hour away from departing.
it will be sad to leave the bid team as i have enjoyed it but i really want my bed, my kitchen and my food. cant wait for stewed meat and overcooked veges

Gabes, I've been following your 3 week odyssey to France, and have to say that you are an inspiration! And the sometimes unsympathetic way restaurant people can react is upsetting!
If you want to find a place tougher than France to get a gluten-free meal, try Texas! I was there last month for a famaily wedding, and felt like I was existing on hamburger patties and steamed asparagus, and even that wasn't without problems. Twice in the same day ordered a hamburger minus the bun and got it served on the bun. Then the dirty look I got when I explained to the waitress that the cook just couldn't take the hamburger off the bun, but had to cook me a new hamburger....... The cook make me wait a real long time...... However, a small revenge was the tiny tip!
