Joe, everybody told me don't worry you'll put the weight back on when I went on a steroid...........I am the lowest weight I have been since I was a kid. I also lost 20 pounds but didn't have a pound to lose. I eat 4 times a day, but what I eat obviously dose not have the calories or the fat. Fortunately or unfortunately I also have a high rate of metabolism. I've been on the Paleo diet for the last 3 months with the exception of rice and potatoes, but have decided to add more grains for calories if I can handle it. Wish I could have a big old milkshake

Everyone I know who went on prednisone instead of entocort did gain weight..lots of it depending on how long their doctors put them on it and how often. I didn't realize people here were losing weight on entocort... but then my diet is way higher in calories now than it was when I lived in the bathroom:)

I am on entocort for 9 months now, on a low dose (a pill a day). Before I was diagnosed I lost about 5 kilo's, from 58 to 53. After that I didn't loose any more, but also didn't loose more. Now very stable around 53 kg (no idea how many american pounds that is). Main reason why I didn't gain weight is the diet, only fish, meet, veggies, fruit and a little rise. I am happy I am not gaining weight, but also happy that I am not loosing any more. That wouldn't be healthy.
Grannyh they put me on prednisone to start and I still lost weight and Harma I am on the same diet and you really can't put weight on. That's exactly why I am not prepared to get off of Entocort (1 a day) until I put some weight back on. I'm 5'5" and 105 pds; there ain't no fat on me! However, I feel good and I started doing all the things I like to do including play 18 holes of golf in the heat of the day ( I live in Texas). No wonder I can't put any weight on
Joe, I've changed 3 sizes and it's not cheap to keep replacing clothes. Ginny

Yeah Ginny, I will be clothes shopping this weekend. At least for most guys we hate clothes shopping... Although its good to loose the pounds. I actually think the MC may have played a part in my weight gain. My diet over the past 2 years has been quite good as far as calories and fat including a salad every day for lunch. Even with the good eating habits I still gained weight; now that I am on entocort the weight is coming off.

GrannyH,
I've lost weight while being on Entocort due to my limited diet. I eat lamb, turkey, pork, asparagus, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, rice and some tolerated grains ground into flour. It's difficult to gain weight without some starchy vegetables, fruit or snacks. Hopefully this is temporary and I'll be able to expand my diet eventually.
My clothes are big on me, but I don't want to buy a lot of new ones because I don't plan on being this small forever. I've been folding my skirts at the waist and putting belts on my pants. I don't work, so I can get away with it. I have bought a few pairs of jeans, but I hate to buy shorts because it's such a short season. Surely I'll be back to normal next summer!
Ginny,
Thank you for your kind words. I haven't felt like much of an inspiration for the past several months, but am beginning to get confidence back that I can manage this. It certainly helps to see solid BMs again! I hope we can both gain back the weight, at least 15 pounds anyway.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
