Not looking forward to next week. Have a colonoscopy on Fri. with the dreaded cleanout on Thurs. Oh noooo.
Will head to the grocery store tomorrow to stock up on clear broth, juices, tea - you know the routine.
Gourmet treats.........NOT! I'll be doing the Miralax prep but I won't be dissolving it in Gatorade like I'm supposed to. Tried some Gatorade today and it gave me stomach ache, bloating, and diarrhea within an hour. Haven't had any in ten years because of all of the junk in it - coloring, preservatives, citric acid - all things I can't tolerate. I'm going to use apple juice and will be sure to drink broth during the day to get enough electrolytes. Luckily, I'll only have to drink a quart of the Miralax mixture - most docs require 2 quarts in divided doses but not mine. I'm a gagger, so the less the better!

I don't envy you. The prep is the worst. I hope I can get away with a sigmoidoscopy. I'll take an enema any day over the GoLytely. Heck, we're all used to what an enema does.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Definitely not fun. I will be thinking of you this week.
Interesting that the Gatorade had such a quick reaction. When I first had chronic D I took the stuff thinking it would be good for me.....little did I know.

a close friend of mine in Oz has to have a colonscopy in 2 weeks time. (she doesnt have MC)
she said that everyone she has mentioned to that she is having the procedure groans and complains about the pre diet how bad the prep is and being on the toilet for half a day or night is.
she laughs it off and says, "do you know there are people out there with medical condition where they spend days sometimes even months as a prisioner of their bathroom, with diarrehea.....half a day for the prep is NOTHING!"
each one of them is 'gobsmacked' at her reply! and most have rushed to google to look it up
She said that knowing what i had been through, makes embracing the prep seem easy!

Good luck, Polly. There's no way to adequately describe that wrung out, weakened state that I feel after the prep part. I'm never sure I'm going to make it to the facility/hospital without an accident or get through the doors without a wheelchair! The anesthesia feels great after all that. I'm sure you handle it better than I do, JoAnn

Good Luck Polly and as everyone else has said, I don't envy you. 1 quart is one more quart than any of us would like to do. I remember my last and it was a gallon. That won't happen again.
Love, Maggie

Thanks for the sympathy and good wishes. Misery does love company!
Mary Beth, I love your idea to salt the glass rim and pretend it's a margarita! HAHAHAHAHA. I wonder if I could mix the Miralax with chilled tequila??? Now that would make for an interesting cleanout day, wouldn't it? Actually, I was searching the web for all of the different prep instructions used by GI offices, and one mentioned that clear alcoholic beverages were allowable on the list of clear liquids!
Will keep y'all posted on my continuing saga...........................
Love,
Polly

Well, actually, maybe that boils down to just one more sleep, if you're going to start the prep on Thursday night.
Love,
Tex
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
