Does anyone have a problem with Splenda

Post by wonderwoman »

I keep reviewing my food diary and can't seem to figure out what I am eating that is causing me to have D or very loose stools several times a day. Because I put a large amount of Splenda in my cold coffee in the afternoon along with rice milk, I did a search on Splenda. This is what Tex wrote back in June of 2008

A thought just occurred to me. Are you by any chance using any sugar substitutes, such as sorbitol, manitol, (or any other sugar alcohols), Splenda, (sucralose), or aspertame? All of these can cause cramps, bloating, and/or diarrhea, depending on the individual.

Yep, Splenda is another sugar substitute that is fast establishing a reputation for causing cramps and diarrhea. It seems that there are no "free lunches", in the food world. Everything that's hyped as being sugar-free, or low-fat, or whatever, usually turns out to be carrying a lot of unwanted features, as well.

Does anyone here have a problem with Splenda? I will put the Splenda away and see if that makes a difference.

I have used it for years in my cereal and coffee without any problem. But then there are a lot of things I could eat before that I can't eat now.

The food you eat can be either the safest and most powerful form of medicine, or the slowest form of poison. Ann Wigmore

Good morning Charlotte, I have used aspartame for years, without any problem I thought. I quit using it recently and I noticed the uncomfortable feeling in the colon, left just under the ribs is gone. I start using it again (just to see if it made a difference) and yes it did. I am using stevia now.

Why don't you just give it try for a couple of weeks and see if it makes a difference?
