Another Strike Against Artificial Sweeteners

Post by tex »

Hi All,

New research shows that artificial sweeteners are linked with pre-term delivery. In a study of almost 60,000 Danish women, For those who drank sugar-sweetened beverages, there was no relationship between the level of consumption, and the risk of a pre-term delivery (in other words, it didn't matter how many sugar-sweetened soft drinks they consumed each day, their risk of a pre-term delivery was not increased). For those who drank one or more servings of artificially sweetened drinks a day, however, their risk of a pre-term delivery was increased by 38%. For those who drank four or more servings per day, the risk of a pre-term delivery was increased 78%. That's pretty significant evidence that artificial sweeteners shouldn't even be allowed to be sold, IMO, let alone legal for sale to pregnant women.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
