I'm still here..........
Hi everyone! So sorry to be absent for so long but life takes some interesting turns now and then!
I've been enjoying, for the most part, my summer. Larry had a torn meniscus in his left knee and had surgery the end of July. He is doing well and in physical therapy. He should be off of work for another couple of weeks.
I've been freezing and canning this summer for the first time! Enjoyable but a lot of work. We put in a garden for the first time this year (well.....in about 20 years) and have enjoyed the fruits of our labor! It's gonna be great to have fresh tasting veggies this winter! So far I have frozen corn, zucchini and peaches and canned peach, blueberry and strawberry jam and peach butter (OMG it is yummy!). I have also canned pepper butter-mustard, tomato juice, chili base and pasta sauce; green beans, sauerkraut and salsa. Everything we have tasted so far has been awesome!
The kids are good. Jordan starts school the 25th (2nd grade) and we have her quite often and every other weekend while her mom works. Nichole (her mom) is working part time and in school. She's doing pretty good.
Trisha is still in Kansas and her husband is scheduled for his 3rd deployment this fall. We still haven't seen our youngest grandson :( and that is really hard.
I've been having a lot of problems with my kidney's (still) and am having problems now. I didn't feel good yesterday and now I know why - kidney pain/spasms again. It really gets me down when this happens. I found out that I have scar tissue from previous kidney stones that either dissolved or passed without doctors care so I figure that I have them quite frequently.
Just thought I would "check in" since I haven't posted in awhile. I read the posts but don't usually have time to post. Thought I would do so today to let you know that I'm still around! lol I'm off to the shower and to the grocery store after that.
Love and hugs to all,
Mars

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Hi Mars,
Gardening and canning is a heck of a lot of work, but you should have it made this winter, with all those canned veggies and goodies to choose from.
Those kidney stones are certainly a persistent problem. Apparently, medical science still has a long way to go, to figure out how to prevent such problems from happening.
Take care of yourself, and thanks for the update.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Mars Bar!
SOOO good to hear an update from you. I am waving my magic wand to wish away those miserable kidney problems ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sounds as if hubby is doing much better with his left meniscus repair than I did. Good luck to him!
My mouth is watering hearing about your garden and kitchen activites. YUM.
Love,

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
