MY BONE SCAN!!!!

Post by barbaranoela »

well dear friends at 8a.m. my phone rings and who is it but my thyroid doc--and a terrific lady she is--

at that hour I naturally figured something wasnt good but to my delight---everything is GREAT---so I gather doing yoga for the past few years have really been of help---and I only took Fosamax waaaaaaaaay back and then I stopped cus it was upsetting my tummy----

I have started to get back into a class--twice a week--naturally Xplaining my L1 compound fracture(although mended)--cus this rules out certain movements---and I tell U I was sore as could be---but very  to get my body moving--

And Mr. Louie is getting into the stained glass mode--I would imagine a hidden talent he *didnt* know he had until he saw Doug;s work and decided to try a small piece and by golly it turned out pretty darn good---
So now this keeps him busy----
I have to give L. much credit cus he NEVER sat around and just slouched---I did the slouching ---well that takes a certain *TALENT* DOESNT IT~~~~~~
till later~~~~

That's great that there was nothing wrong Barbara. Although that was early for a call for a doctor. You will have to post some pictures of the stained glass work, that really takes talent and patience to do right.

Barbara, your posts are such a delight and always makes me feel better. Great news and good for you to take up classes. I use to do Yoga a long time ago and now I think I will try to renew my interest. It ought to help the mind if nothing else......... Ginny

great news Barbara, but could also not the diet and the healing of the gut be of influence? That is at least what I like to believe, that bone loss is (partly) caused by the MC and (partly) is reversible with the right diet, some extra calcium/vit d and exercise.

Harma----I had been taking Fasomax years before I ran into the *race for the potty*than I became lazy and didnt take anything--
I might have posted this before ---my doctor had said I shunk from 5-2 to 5-1 which I hadnt---my bone review was SUPER improved---his nurse said keep doing what U R doing --and I sat in my chair and thought *how could I be super improved since I had stopped taking meds???

To make it short---all I take is calcium---

As I said *my body seems to work backwards*
The MC --I do believe--was caused by our regular doc,(which I really didnt like) cus he had me on meds for Mitro Valve Prolapse--which every time I went for the test the guy would tell me *U dont have MVP*---so this was a big scew up--for years

Finally he retired and our new doc Kozin--who I adore-took over and was shocked when he did our blood work-up --cus our lipids were more than HIGH--and he asked didnt your other DR. tell U of this--and I said *nope* all he ever said was *acceptable*????????
And then an idiot for a GI---who didnt help me any--but what did I know-until someone told me to get to NYC and gave me the name of the doctor that got me back a life!!!
And then I found the first room run by our Sally---and then taken over by our Wayne---and therefor learned many new things that I never was informed of--
If U sound confused by all this--think of how I felt :yikes:

Congrats on your results. Mine were just the opposite! Couldn't take the pills for bone loss because of the CC. Exercise hasn't seemed to help. Next week I see a doc to see about Reclast... sigh..

hi granny---I keep missing say *hi* to U

I had discussed Reclast with my Dr. Kozin--due to the fact that I was going for my *bond scan*==
In his opinion it was sorta a *rather not* cus of the megga side effects and then my thyroid doc said no-way--but fortunately I am bone improved---

How have U been doing--better I hope----
Let me know what is decided for U!!!!

Other than the bone loss I am doing great! There has been a consistent bone loss over the last 8 years.. no improvement in all that time.

My family doc suggested the reclast and has sent me to the only doctor in town who does the infusions of reclast. He said it is the only option since I can't take the pills.

I only know one person who has had the reclast therapy and they didn't have any side effects..just hoping if I get it that I am as lucky:)

Saw the arthritis doc this morning.. it will take a week to see if medicare will pay.. he says the drug retails for about $1100.. not sure what the infusion part costs.

I read all the brochures while waiting. I am in the middle of getting an implant done on upper molar.. that work comes to a screeching halt now if I get the reclast. He said to wait a month after reclast before any dental work.. I saw something about the dental work in the warnings (small print) so asked questions.

He also said the entocort contributes to the bone loss. I looked at him and said but entocort beats dead (came close to a sod nap several times with D)... he just laughed.. said it sure does!

I have not seen this mentioned here previously and it got my attention since I began Entocort July 30, 2010. I just had a DEXA done and have not gotten the results yet. I can't find papers from the last time I had the scan but I know the test results then were within normal range.

The arthritis doc didn't know squat about CC nor entocort... LOL Told him the dosage.. 3 mg a day and I only absorb about 10% of that... he still held his ground.. don't they always... :)

I am 66 and the loss has been constant for years even before I took entocort..
