Getting ready for the trip south.

Post by starfire »

I haven't been posting much but have pretty much kept up with reading the posts.

Been a busy summer and I'm not looking forward to leaving. Plan now is to leave the 1st of Sept for Ga. where I'll drop off Mom for a visit with her sister. After a couple of days I'll go on to my Sister's and have a couple of days there............ Then on to visit my son and family in Pensacola. Probably be back to Vero Beach area on Sunday or Monday following Labor Day.

Mom will stay with her sister about 3 weeks. My sister will fly with her to FL.

They have postponed my initial dental apt to Sept 30. I was quite upset about that since that puts me returning here around Thanksgiving at the earliest (I think). I wanted to get back before the chance of snowstorms increased. Well, perhaps I'll get lucky.

Been having some pretty loose stools but probably from the stress of the upcoming trip. Only had a real problem one day.

I've managed to do a fair amount of bush hogging on the property, weed eating, mowing, cutting off some tree branches that were in my way mowing, a little in the flower beds, got the back porch, steps & swing done with water seal. And, I sold Bill's car finally. I didn't think it was going to bother me at all...... and it didn't until the person was driving away with it. It helps though that the person who bought it is Bill's sister that lives in this area. She seems delighted to have it.

Sorry to ramble on so much. Kinda feel like I've been "out of touch" for a few months.

I do think of my friends here often even though I might not post much.

Hi Shirley, you have been so busy and have accomplished a lot. I too admire all you give for your mother and family. You are a very giving and compassionate person. I hope things work out for you the way you want them to. I hate driving in snow and icy roads. I am originally an Arizona girl and have had to learn to live in Utah winters. Be careful, Love JoAnn

Shirley,

It's nice to see you posting. Good luck with your travels and your dental work. It sounds like your mother is doing better... no doubt your care has helped a lot.

WOW, thanks everyone for the nice comments......
I really have to get down to the business of packing and make a list of things I have to do before I close up here for 3 months.

I keep putting things off and doing things I "want" to do instead. HaHa I'm a terrible procrastinator I suppose.

Hi Shirley,

On your was south why don't you stop by here? I could use a little of your elbow grease on my propertty - you sound like you really know what you're doing! LOL!

Why an initial dental appt.? I thought all of your implant work had been done. Is this something else?

You should be OK if you make it back before Thanksgiving. I think the first snow here has been during the first week of Dec. over the past 6-7 years. Of course, nothing compared to last year's snowfall, right?

Glad to hear that Mom is doing so well. You are doing such a good job of caring for her.

Hope the gut settles down soon. Mine is in an uproar right now.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip.

Lots of love,

Polly

Shirley, the last time I visited my daughter, my 10 year old granddaughter :girl: asked me if I could come and live with them when I get old.. I was very quick to answer, only if there are no kids here. My daughter has 4 children ages 4 TO 11 :goteam: and I love them dearly but could not see myself living with them now. Besides I have a husband and she did not ask him to come live with them.

Later I thought about my reply and explained that when you get old you get very set in your ways, and can't tolerate a lot of noise and confusion. I told her it was sweet of her to ask me though. Then she told me she didn't want me to die for 15 years yet because she wanted her children to be able to meet me. Out of the mouths of babes! While I was there, we worked on a craft project that I had purchased so I'm sure that is what got her thinking it would be nice if I were always there with them.

Later that evening my daughter and I talked about her comments and assured me I would be more than welcome to live with them when the time came that I could no longer live alone. This was good for me to hear. :cheerleader:

Charlotte,

What a terrific thing for your granddaughter to say! Children have a way of touching our hearts, don't they?

How nice of your daughter to extend the same invitation to live with them. I'm sure that put your mind at ease.

Polly........... HaHa.......... I may sound like I know what I'm doing but believe me............ I hold my breath and pray a lot that the "equipment" I have to use doesn't give me any problems. I know zilch about "machine repair" and not enough about "maintenance. Been fairly lucky so far.

The young bear has continued to visit the bird feeder. He was here last night. He (could be she) was here last night sometime because the feeder was licked clean this morning. I'm sure it was the young one because it doesn't pull the feeder down... the big ones do. I've seen it several times over the summer since the first time when it was with "Mama" and I posted the pics.

About the implants...... All implants have been implanted  Have had a good long "heal time" for the last two. Now it's time for the "uncovering" by the oral surgeon so my dentist can proceed with impressions and have the lab make the teeth that attach to the implants. There with be another 2 week heal time between the uncovering and the impressions. When I said "initial" apt, I just meant the first apt for this stage. I am so very close to being done...... I pray nothing goes wrong and delays the "finish".

I hope your "flare" is over soon, Polly.

Wonderwoman............
What a delightful story!!! That's something to keep in your memory banks for continued enjoyment. Thanks so much for sharing that.
