Harma!
What a courageous and adventurous lady you are!! I am in awe! I am so interested to learn more about your dream........apparently you mentioned something at an earlier date, and I missed it. Would you mind telling us more about it, or citing the old post where you talked about it? Hope all is going well with settling in - especially with the food. Have you found local staples that you can safely eat?
Love,
Polly

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Ah - political reasons. I guess I'm lucky that I'm too lazy to leave the country because I don't like the way it's being run. Otherwise, I'd be gone most of the time.
As I recall, a bunch of loud-mouthed movie stars threatened to leave the country if the previous administration of this country won the election. As best I could tell, though, none of them kept their word - they all remained in this country.
I suppose that's all for the best, though, because it gave them the opportunity to see first-hand, how well the opposing party is able to change a bad situation, into a first class disaster.
We might as well face it - all big government sucks, no matter who's sitting in the cat bird seat at the moment.

Well, maybe things will work so smoothly that the voters will want to continue doing it that way indefinitely. At least your legislature can't pass any "bad" laws for a while.

thank you all so much for your nice responses. I am doing okay in my temporary new place. I am going up and down being so excited about my new adventure and wondering what on earth I am doing here. I find the settling part hard. Can't find a phone shop and standing in front of one. Food is not easy to, I am not near a real supermarket, only small ones, sometimes writing on stuff is only in arab or it is is fish in "vegetable oil" (what means could also be soy oil). Today I took a taxi to real supermarket (can you image taking a taxi to get your groceries), well taxi's are cheap here. Like 2 - 3 dinar (is about 1 dollar) for a single ride.
Today when I wanted to take a taxi back to my apartment, I realized I forgot my piece of paper with the address. I have no idea at all what the name of the neighborhood and street is. I was already in a taxi when I realized it. So I was in and out, leaving a surprized taxi driver behind. Explaining is useless, his english was poor and my arab is zero. But thanks god I had the phone number of the taxi driver that picked me up, so he knew how to take me back.
I saw two apartments today, I only have a place to stay for the first two weeks. One thing I know it is easy to find a place to rent here, there is a lot on the market. But there are so many possibilities, so many choices, than I have no idea what to choose, where to go. I saw one place today, I think I will take that one, it is close to two large supermarket, at least close enough I can walk there. Important thing if you are on a mc diet. Only disadvantage is, it has no internet.
tomorrow I hope to see another place.
than the next plan is to rent a car for a couple of days and go around Jordan in a car. Driving is a bit different here than what I am used to.

you sound like me in france - every day had some highs and challenges and tasks that needed extra energy all in all it was exhausting!!. it is a big thing to step out of our safety zone!
re the apartment, trust your instincts, when you are standing in the apartment, can you picture yourself living there? being close to the supermarkets is good, more importantly you have to feel like the place is you.
the language thing will get better. in 2 months you will look back at this post and laugh.
take care
cant wait to hear about your adventures with driving
