Today's health headline:
"Regular use of low-dose aspirin can cut the risk of colorectal cancer by a third, with benefits becoming apparent quickly, a large Scottish case-control study found."

"Epidemiologic studies have shown that aspirin and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) lower the incidence of colorectal cancer by about 40%, a finding supported by some, though not all, randomized trials"

This article reads like a "let's put statins in the water" argument. Everyone should take aspirin and/or NSAIDS to prevent colon cancer!!

Then what??

Lots of people joining this board because everyone will have drug-induced MC as a result!!

Now you see why most of us have a general distrust of the medical professional. Their ethics suck. In light of the bleeding, and IBD risk from long-term NSAID use, why are they even wasting time and money conducting such research, let alone wasting resources publishing the results.

If I didn't know better, I'd view that sort of research as job security - creating new business for the industry for the future.

earlier this week in Australia there was a huge amount of media coverage for a study where the results showed excess use and long term use of asprin and iproprofen can induce stroke


the medical profession are ok - as per celie's post there are good people out there. it is the relationship of big pharma and the government that concerns me.

The Pharma industry is incentivized by how much they sell, not by how much better health they produce. The incentive has to be changed. Only government can do that.
