I was on Entocort for just over a year. Started on 3 pills a day end of June 2009 and started tapering end of Feb this year. Last pill was 25 August 2010.
I only tapered when I felt the gut had settled enough (not 100 percent but enough to dare....e.g. about 80 percent firm to firmish and no urgent BMs). I was on a GF, DF, legume, egg and nightshade free diet for most of that time and am staying with this diet. I am very slowly getting more adventurous with fruit and occasional small doses of uncooked greens. I am not 100 percent, but hope I can very gradually bring back fruit and salad.
Gloria, do you really think I'm home free????? I'm afraid to even think that. I told myself I wouldn't declare victory until 6 months off. I still have to be vigilant about my diet and don't experiment too much. I was thrilled that I could eat refried beans without any problems since I've missed my Mexican food so much. I am still praying and pulling for you that you'll turn that elusive corner. No one's worked harder or deserves it more than you do. Thanks for all your support and encouragement, JoAnn

Yes, I think you're home free. Three months is long enough for Entocort to be completely out of your system and you are maintaining with your diet alone now. You can relax. I can't tell you about how quickly you can add foods back because I don't have that experience. Maybe someone else can tell you.
You and Ant give us all encouragement.
I do feel like I've turned a corner. I'm having only 1-2 BMs a day, always Normans or near-Normans. I've been at this point before, so I'm not getting too excited. The most encouraging news is that my mouth sores are starting to diminish. Generally speaking I sometimes, but not always, get a tiny one after I eat avocado (fruit with the lowest fructose), and it goes away within a day. I'm still not sure about rice. I'd love to eat it again, but I don't want to "rock the boat." I haven't gained any weight, but I haven't lost anymore, either. All in all, I have hope again.
Gloria
You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
Good going Gloria. Hope you continue to be successful with your diet. If anyone needs a break it has to be you. I always enjoy reading your posts. Keep us posted.
