Sleeping Pill

Post by Kari »

Last night I woke up at 1:15 PM with a stomack ache - sigh. I took my walk to the potty, as the "worry wheels" starting churning in my head. Back in my comfy, warm bed, the worry wheels continued on, until I was wide awake. Not only was I going over everything I had put in my mouth the day before, but I started worrying about my older sisters, who all seem to be suffering from various afflictions.

OK, time for a sleeping pill. I shuffle into the living room in search for my steady companion, Ramsus. He is curled up on the back of the couch. I gently lift him into my arms, and his body stays limp and soft. I carry him into my bed, and lay him gently down. Then I climb in next to him, and sensing my tension, he stretches out along my body with his head nestled in my armpit. As he starts to purr, the magic begins to happen. His soft, relaxed energy, gradually overtakes my own, and my body starts to respond and relax right along with him. Before long, we're both sound asleep. The purrrrfect sleeping pill!!!!!

Kari, I LOVE your story!!! Ramsus is so beautiful......and regal.

Did you know that they actually sell a CD that is nothing but a cat purring? I know this because a friend of mine has one and uses it sometimes for meditation/relaxation.

I hope the worry wheels slow down tonight.

Love,

Polly

That's proof that natural treatment methods work.

Thanks for sharing,

Loved your story and I can certainly understand how relaxing your "sleeping pill" is.

Kari,

Our dog used to snuggle up to me until she could tell that I was relaxed and almost asleep. Then she would move over to DH and sleep at the bottom of his feet, where she preferred to sleep. There I times I long for her snuggling to help me sleep. Animals are incredibly intuitive, aren't they?

Kari that's how Nestle (my golden retriever) earned her nickname 'Nurse Nestle'. When I first came home from the hospital last April, she would cuddle up to me much like Ramsus did and would not leave my side... She has done this a few times when she knows I am not feeling that well.

Our furry friends really are incredible

Polly - your description of my beautiful boy (regal) is very perceptive - he is an Egyptian Mau (the only naturally spotted domestic cat) and I always think of him as being so "dignified". Also, I'm so glad you told me about the "purring" CD - I have found it on Amazon. The reason I'm so excited about it is that my "human companion" snores, so it is very difficult to share a room when we travel together (we have separate bedrooms at home). I will try to play the CD on my portable CD player (wearing earphones) next time we're sharing a room:).

Gloria - I love your updated picture!!!

Everyone - thanks for your comments, and yes, animals are incredible companions. Ramsus is very tuned into my "vibes" and always comforts me when I'm distressed.

Warm regards,
Kari
