Katy I'm glad you stood up and made sure things happened in a way that makes you comfortable. It was not a failure at all, but a success in that you are in control of the events, great job Katy!

I will be thinking of you during your next appointment

Katy,

I'm still getting a chuckle about how we have all been calling you Naty instead of Katy due to a typo, and you finally called us out on it. I guess I assumed Naty as well, possibly because your image name is "Natythingcolbery". Could be worse. Just be glad that your name isn't Norman :)

I also fear cystoscopies, but from female nurses. I shivered when I read your post. I had some cruel, older female nurse try to pass a catheter, followed by a cysto, into my bladder and failed seven times!!! But she kept jabbing. She said the pain I was feeling was normal. Having no prostate to pass through of her own, and having never had a cystoscopy, I wonder how she knew this. I have never urinated the same since due to scaring she caused.

Still shivering.

@Hoosier :bigbighug:

Oddly enough NatythingyColbery was a typo of my name that stuck, someone tried to 'Shout' at me over msn, mistyped Katy and Colbert (Colbert being my last name) and they didnt know my middle name so that became Thingy!

Had my pre-op for my Cystoscopy today and the nurse didnt understand why i wanted a GA when I'm having it done!

Rich,
Your post made me hurt!! My late husband had quite a few cystoscopies. I admire your restraint because I think my husband would have kicked that nurse across the room.

Katy, just reading this thread and my heart goes out to you. Everyone has given you great advice. You do what you need to do for yourself to get through this procedure. People can be so insensitive at times; even nurses. The old saying applies, "unless you have walked in my shoes....................." I hope your Mom can be with you again. Ginny

Ok i'm starting to freak out now.... but I need to know what is wrong with my bladder and kidney! I had to walk out of a seminar on thursday because it felt my my kidney was being stabbed. Also my GI has asked to be there when the procedure is being done... any ideas as to why he could have asked this?

Maybe he's trying to figure out whether it might be related to your MC. :shrug:

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I wondered that actually after I posted on here, I said yes when they asked if he could be there though, probably won't see my GI until my next appointment with him though.
