Stools Types 1 - 7

I know this is a little graphic, but I also know you guys can take it. Found the following "stool" type chart:

I think it is helpful to describe where we (and/or I) are at with respect to "Norman."
Right now, and it seems moreso since taking Entocort, I am a Type 6.
Wondering where others fall on this scale?
Regards,
Rich

Shirley,
I see you are up early too. Interesting to learn what you are as well.
I am beginning to learn that for all of us, getting to "Norman" may be somewhat elusive with respect to what we formerly had. If I could stay lower than a 6 type, have less urgency, and less frequency, I think I could manage this beast.
Maybe I am setting the bar too high?

No, I don't think you are setting the bar too high. It's just a matter of letting the healing process do it's job and that takes time. Sometimes a lot of time.
Yep, I get up about 5 or 6 most days. I used to be a night owl but no more.

Hi Rich:
How are you doing? I hope things have settled down a bit for you again.
Interesting little chart.
For me, for the last 13 years, type 7 has been the norm and a good day was a type six (er.. many type sixes
) My "normans" of the past few days have actually been type 5's and 4"s! Guess it is all somewhat relative
I don't think I have had a type one or two since childhood!

I'm a type 6 nearly all the time. There are preriodic 7's, and rarely a 5. However, the new diet has reduced the frequency to almost normal levels (1-2/day). I find it strange that my body can hang on to that much D all day. But when I do finally get the urge, I need to sprint to a bathroom!

Well, of course, with an ileostomy, I'm now a 7, but back when I still had a colon, I was mostly a 4, with occasional excursions on either side. Back before I achieved remission, (over 6 years ago), 7 was the order of the day, obviously.

WE have the greatest discussions here.
Well I hate to admit it but after 10+ years I am still at a 7 with a few 6s thrown in for good measure. Probably have only hit Norman less than a dozen times. I have chalked it up to that is the way my system is and learned to live with it.

Maggie,
How I WISH and PRAY that you will post one day saying how wonderful it is to have "Norman" visit every day. You have suffered so long and I just want so badly for you to be "improved".
However, you are an inspiration the way you "just keep on" living your life the way you do even though the MC is still so active. I admire you so much.
Love, Shirley

Well, I finally took the plunge and looked at the poo pictures - I see they range from what has to be constipation to pure water. I'm happy to report that the days of 7's seem to be mostly behind me - I have moved up the ladder to mostly 6 - only two steps away from NORMAN!!! It amazes me what we come up with on this board :).
Linda - love your new picture with the horse - it looks very peaceful .....

Thanks, Kari.
Speaking of constipation, although it has been a hitherto totally foreign experience for me, it seems that the Entocort has brought it to me!!! and I must say, it is not any more pleasant than it's opposite.
I will be dropping down to two Entocort tomorrow.

Thanks Shirley.
I have gotten so used to this form of poo that it really does not bother me that much anymore. Mornings and evenings are the worse but it sure is not like back in the beginning with a high of 43 loo trips in 1 day. Now it is more like 6-8 per day.
However, I can't wait for retirement so I can spend more time birding and with Frank who is now retired. Only 4 years to go.
Love, Maggie
