Maggie I am so sorry that you have had to learn to live with this disease. I did too, for about 12 years, until I found this site, and have started to see some improvement, so I know that you mean about acceptance and being able to find some comfort in the 6 to 8 times a day. I've been in the 25 to 30 times range too many times myself, and yes, 6 to 8 is a vast improvement!!
My SO is going to retire next year and I have another 9 years left to go. Good for you that you only have 4 more!
By the way, I was thinking of you the other day and thought I must tell Maggie this story... we had a Flicker get stuck in our basement. I could hear this flapping noise down there, so opened the basement door and there was a a poor young Flicker flapping at the window in the stairway trying to get out. I have no idea how he got in there to begin with (it is still a mystery) , but I called my hubby and he threw a towel around him and put him outside. He squawked but flew away when released, and a couple of feathers fluttered to the ground. I saved them (lovely orange quill shafts on them) Talk about living with nature!!
Regards,
Linda
