Thanks to Tex for turning me on to www.alldaychemist.com. I was able to order the generic form of Entocort for 45 cents per 3 mg capsule versus the $ 11.00 per capsule I had to pay at Safeway. What I found interesting was there was no requirement for a prescription when I ordered it on line. I even called their toll free number to ask about sending them the prescription. They told me for that particular drug, no Rx was necessary. I mention this because I know some of the folks on the board have had issues with the doctors agreeing to a prescription for this. If nothing else, there are big savings from US pharmacies.
The Entocort has been great for me. I've been taking it for 2 weeks in conjunction with a GF and DF diet and I'm feeling better now than I have all year. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions and encouragement!
If you have problems getting Entocort..

Rich,
That's great news, and I'm glad to hear that your treatment is working so well, so soon.
There are two reasons why no prescription is needed in that situation. First, a prescription written by a U. S. doctor is worthless, in any other country in the world, and prescriptions written by doctors residing in other countries are worthless in this country. And second, a generic form of budesonide is not legal for sale in the U. S. so it's not possible for a U. S. doctor to even write a prescription for it. The FDA and Customs allow individuals to import a 3-month supply of it, but dealers are not allowed to receive delivery of it, (such shipments will be confiscated at the port of entry).
Thanks for updating us, and I hope that you continue to improve, so that you will soon have your life back.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
