Shirley, I'm so glad everything went well. I had lasik eye surgery several years ago and was really nervous before I went in, but it was so quick and the results were amazing. Hope you continue to heal and recover quickly, JoAnn

Shirley, too bad about missing a PA fall.. I hear they are spectacular! That's the nice thing about seasons though ... there's always next year

Glad you liked the horsey pic. BTW we don'thave snow here.. YET! Had our first hard frost last night. The basil is toast (not that I could eat it anyhow... )

I think it's fine. I have a checkup on Monday and if everything is OK (I'm sure it is) the right eye will be done on Wednesday. After I get "accustomed" to that lens, I'll find out if I have to get reading glasses. I'm impatient to find that out.

Thank You for asking.

Shirley,

I am also glad things went well for you. Eye problems can be scary. I don't even have the courage to get Lasik.

Take Care!

Well, if it's any encouragement, my sister had lasik quite a long time ago. She had worn glasses/contacts since teenage years. At the time she had it, the best place seemed to be in Canada so she went there. It went fine and she has not had to wear glasses or contacts since.

I was too chicken (it was also quite expensive) so I just lived with my glasses until the cataracts showed up and I decided it was time to evict them. HaHa I probably won't see as well as my sister does but I should see better than i did before with minimal "aid" so I think it will be worth it.

I don't know if lasik is the same........ but I felt no pain at all (deadened with eye drops). Did feel "pressure" a couple of time. Saw nothing but a bright light. I was quite grateful for that part. HaHa

If you really want lasik surgery, I'd encourage you to go for it.

Hi Shirley,

I'm glad to hear all is going well. Good luck Wed.!

Love,

Polly

P.S. I only know of one person who had problems with Lasik - he lost some of his night vision afterwards, but I would imagine that's rare.

Shirley,

Good advice. But I still lack the courage :). Perhaps someday this will change. My former administrative assistant had Lasik, got a terrible infection, and had to wear corrective glasses following the procedure. Nope, not for me yet.

My wife just had cataract surgery. Apparently her bone marrow transplant caused premature cataracts (in addition to a host of other problems that could fill a list as long as a phone book... but all better than the alternative). They put new lenses in her and now she needs only reading glasses but no more contacts! Amazing for her.

I would love to have better vision. I have tried contacts but they irritate my eyes and with the sooty environments I am regularly in, would not be the best idea. My glasses are OK, but they are always getting smeared and scratched as I hold my camera up to them to compose my photos through the viewfinder.

Regards,

Rich

Oh My Goodness......... I'm so sorry about your wife's difficulties!! I am very glad that the cataract surgery and new lenses worked out OK though.

Hugs to her........

I guess if I had personal experience with someone who had the results of former assistant I'd be mighty hesitant also.

Hi Gabes,
Yes, finishing up the last two teeth. All the major stuff has already been done. The 2 implants were done months ago and are well healed now. I could have had them done in July or Aug I think, but I was stubborn and wouldn't come back from Pa that soon. HaHa

Have already had the actual metal thing the tooth attaches to "uncovered" (when it's first put in, your gums are stitched right over it) and the "roots" are ready to have the crowns attached. Already had the impressions done and the Dr. should have my new teeth ready to install on the 2nd of Nov. Really crossing my fingers that fit and color are OK. I have already made plans to leave on the 12th of Nov and that doesn't leave enough time for "rework". For some reason things seem to be progressing at a normal to rapid pace and I guess maybe it's time for me to get a break since there were so many holdups in times past.

I'm SO ready to "fly away home" (drive actually). SO glad things have moved along speedily this time.

Shirley, I'm glad to hear that your first cataract surgery was so quick and easy! And reading about how long it takes for the whole implant process to take makes me feel worse for my 27 year old niece. Last month she went over the handlebars of her bike when a tire got caught in the gratings of a storm drain. She landed on her face and had the two front teeth knocked out, as well as cracked a couple of more. Luckily no broken face bones, although she was pretty scraped up. So it's root canals and crowns for the damaged teeth and implants for front teeth. From your description it will be a many month process...... :thud: I give her credit, though...she posted a picture of herself sans front teeth on her Facebook page with the caption "All I want for Christmas......."

What a Trooper!!! I'm proud of your neice!!

I'm not sure how long the heal time would be for the two front teeth. It could be as little as 2 months or it could be longer. Where the teeth are and how much bone you have has a lot to do with it. Since she is pretty young she's probably got good bone. I wish her the best.
