Actually, the joint damage is almost surely from untreated gluten-sensitivity, rather than from MC, per se. A few of my fingers are permanently crooked and twisted, but at least the damage stopped progressing, when the diet took hold.

I had been developing arthritis in my fingers as well and also have some permanent bumps, but the stiffness has gone away. If I eat too many potatoes for a few days I feel some stiffness - solanine is a known trigger for that. I also had really bad knee pain prior to going gluten free and that has never returned. In fact, I never get aches and pains and have not taken a pain releiver in well over a year.

Mary Beth,

Another thing I've noticed is that I never get a headache, anymore. Never! I used to get them regularly, (and, of course when my other symptoms started, I began to get migraines, often, also). Eliminating gluten from my diet has apparently banned headaches forever.
