Time to commit to some changes

Post by randyh »

Hello everyone, I am new to this board so just wanted to say hello. I posted my medical history on the medical history board and thanks for all the advice.

So I was diagnosed with LC about 6 years ago after a colonoscopy. I was told by the doctor not to worry about it unless it cause me problems.

Had a few flairs with D now and then until now.

Had some acid reflux so without researching or checking I took some Prevacid in March. CRINGE!!! Yep you got it, caused me to start having symptoms again, worse than before. Went to the Doc with some abdominal pain, they did a CT scan and found nothing. The doc didn't put it together with the Prevacid and my LC, I had to look it up because I noticed that it all seem to start about the time I took the Prevacid.

I have also recently been diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder and have been attending counseling for that.

Have not really done too much to control the LC and symptoms. Lost some weight again.

I have noticed lately when I eat almost anything, about and hour or two later I start feeling very poorly.

I have D about once or twice every other day or so. Sometimes I have allot of brain fog and feel like I have a bad cold or flu, this only lasts about an hour or so. Some days no problem. I have experienced abdominal pain all over including my upper abdomen.

I had about a 3 week remission when all was well including the GAD but then got a really bad cold and that seemed to trigger the whole thing over again.

Just wanted to check and see if anyone else has had similar symptoms?

I need to commit to changing my diet, starting I think with GF and maybe DF.

I have trouble distinguishing what is from the GAD and what is from LC.

Its very nice to share with others who know what I am talking about.

Thanks for your support.

Morning Randy and :welcome:

I think you are spot on in trying to change your diet. The brain fog is a definite effect that most of us get from ingesting gluten. Also going dairy free and possibly soy free - since a lot of us fall in this category - would be a good thing for you and after a while you should see significant results.

Do not really know anything about GAD and its side effects so am no help there.

Again welcome to the board and stick around and really dig through the site and you will find a wealth of information.

:welcome: Randy

I had to look up the symptoms for GAD. No wonder you have difficulty defining whether some of the symptoms go with LC or with GAD. At any rate it's not pleasant no matter which one is causing it.

My advice is to read, read, read here on this site and research any other place you like. You need to be fully informed so you can decide how you want to tackle handling your ailments. I think a diet change would be beneficial. It's certainly helped a lot of people on this board.

Don't be afraid to ask questions or talk about any "gross" subject.

Randy-

I have some of the same syptoms as you. I periodically experience flu like symptoms (body aches, chills, fever) that come once or twice a day and last for an hour or so; some days nothing. Also, I experience abdominal pain quite often; almost as if I did a bunch of sit ups. I sometimes wonder if because of the stress this has caused I involuntarily tense my stomach muscles??

Interestingly enough, a few months before I was diagnosed with MC my primary care doc also gave me Prevacid thinking that was my problem. I quickly became worse as well.

I have been on a GF and DF diet for about 3 weeks now. I also started taking entocort about 3 weeks ago as well. It definitely knocked out my D and gave me my energy back.
