Best way to deal with brain fog?
Since I came of the Pentasa on tuesday night/wednesday morning I have had a lot of issues with Brain fog (I pretty much waved it into my brain within half an hour of waking up! It's currently rolling around in there having the time of its life, lucky thing!)...
So my question to you is this....
What is the best way to deal with the brain fog?

I'm completley off the pentasa, have been since wednesday morning, its just that pretty much as soon as i stopped taking that, the brain fog decided to come in and stay there!

You may think this is a strange suggestion, but I started taking about 3T of coconut oil/day for my hypothyroidism, and I was amazed to discover that it helped my brain fog immensely. For some reason I stopped using it and the brain fog came back. I was diagnosed w/cc last month, and started taking the coconut oil again, not for the cc but just to take better care of myself in general. And lo and behold, the brain fog went away again.

Naty,
Brain fog is typically caused by untreated gluten-sensitivity, in conjunction with the leaky gut syndrome. Gluten can cross the blood/brain barrier.
Marliss,
Some people swear by coconut oil as a treatment for MC.

Well, that's very interesting, Tex. I have had improved D since I've been back on the coconut oil. I thought maybe it was the ACV, or stopping the smoothies with fresh fruit/spinach/flax seed, but I did those things at the same time I started back up on the coconut oil. Cool... Obviously, I need to do more reading on this forum.

when you say 3T do you mean tea spoons or table spoons? I might give that a go. Coffee works temporarily for me, for about half an hour, but for obvious reasons I can't consume much of that :)

T as in Tablespoons. I measure by grams, so it's 14g per Tablespoon. I use it to cook my eggs in the morning, but mostly I drink it in tea. This sounds disgusting and I had to get used to it when I first tried it, but it's actually quite good. I brew hibiscus tea, and the coconut oil adds to the flavor. Just be sure not to drink it too hot because the coconut oil will badly burn your mouth (the voice of experience). I also throw it in my smoothies. I am sure there are other ways to consume it, but I am not very inventive.
Coconut oil also helps with weight management either way. I have read many stories of overweight people who lost weight by consuming coconut oil, and I have a friend who was seriously underweight and who gained about 15 lbs. by adding coconut oil to her diet.

Can you order online, Naty?
Here's one place I found: http://www.coconut-oil-uk.com/index.php

I use coconut oil for cooking, but I also eat about 2 tablespoons of unsweetened shredded coconut every morning. If I have cereal, I mix it in, but otherwise I chew it up plain. It's fairly tasty, and I just treat it as part of my breakfast, along with my egg, GF rice cake or biscuit, and fruit. You could also sprinkle it on chopped mixed fruit, it you can eat fruit.

Naty,
In the U. S., most health food stores sell it, but it is usually a bit more expensive there. Do you have any grocery stores that have sections devoted to products for various ethnic groups? Coconut oil can usually be found with Chinese or Thai foods, for example.

Never mind.. I see someone else sent you the link I was going to send.

Hope you find some soon. Rice protein powder milkshakes with a bit of chocolate syrup, banana and olive oil are good too , and helped me stop losing.
