Decided to take the GF diet plunge

Post by randyh »

After feeling bad for so long, its time to do something about it.

Talked with my spouse and decided its time to take control of my diet so starting with GF first, started last night.

I have already noticed that I don't feel as tired as I usually do in this afternoon, hope it lasts.

Just wanted to thank everyone for all the great advice available here, it sure helps to understand what is going on and how to take some measure of control in feeling better and improving my health and quality of life.

It is very tiresome not knowing weather it was going to be a good day or a bad day.

I just want to feel good again.

I will update as time goes on, but I am very hopeful that this will be the beginning of my healing.

Looking at doing the Entrolab test soon so I can know what I should be doing to heal. I am tired of doctors taking their best guess and all the tests.

Thanks everyone.

I hope you continue to improve noticeably.

I've been gluten-free for three weeks now. When you're really motivated to do it, it's not as hard as it seems like it will be at first. And when you see results right away, as you have, that's more motivation to stay with it.

This is a great site to get information and encouragement!

Good for both of you, for taking responsibility for your own health, and for taking that first giant step on the path back to good health. I sincerely believe that this will take you where you want to go, (though you may find it necessary to fine-tune your diet, as you go), and anytime that you need advice, encouragement, support, or just a place to let off some steam, please don't hesitate to post.

Good luck to both of you on your journey. We appreciate your feedback, so please keep us updated.

Randy ( and Martha)

That is good news that you are both going to try going gluten free. I was one who really, really did not want to do it, and really didn't have a clue what I was going to eat. But with good advice and help from people on this site, and lots of reading , I have managed to find many satisfying alternatives, and as long as I keep my stock of basic gf food up in the house, and snacks and treats, I am to the point where it is second nature to eat this way, and I don't feel deprived at all. It took me about 4 months to get there.

Good luck to you and if you have any questions about what to eat, there is lots of info in old posts, or just ask.

Regards,
Linda

Randy and Martha, it is so important to realize and accept what you need to do to get better. Prior to starting the GF (and I also did DF at first) I was so nauseated every day along with the D and extremely tired. Within the first week, the nausea settled down and I almost felt human again. Keep up the good work. You will find that it is no big deal when you do it long enough, because you will be so happy about how you feel. Keep reporting. Ginny

Something New

Post by randyh »

Well after just three day of GF diet, I now have something I have rarely ever had, C. I don't want to complain, but not sure if this is something to be concerned about. I have been eating allot of rice so maybe that is the cause.

I seem to have an upset belly after I eat also no matter what I eat.

This is going to be a long road I think.

Been drinking allot of water so I am not dehydrated.

Randy,

MC can alternate between D and C, (speaking from experience). Are you taking any drugs at all, including narcotic-based pain killers?

If not, you may need to add some "safe" fiber to your diet, in the form of bananas, or possibly apple sauce, for example.

Good luck,

Thanks for the advice and encouragement.

This is going to take some time I can see.

I think the upset stomach was from having C, my lunch went allot better.

Just gotta keep from getting frustrated with this.

Ill keep on going, with my GAD I get worried about things that happen that are different from what I am used to. To put it mildly I tend to freak out when new things happen.

Thanks again.

The skin is a type of epithelium, similar to the lining of the entire GI tract, (and the lining of the mouth), and gluten sensitivity can cause mouth sores, and skin problems. MC can cause eye problems, including styes and dry eyes, for some of us. I used to get styes when I was young.
Once your gut heals, all those symptoms should either improve, or go away altogether.
