Tinnitus going to be a sleepless night with all this ringing in my ears
Seriously, lol I was just curious if anyone has noticed an increase of tinnitus since your mc diagnosis? I've had tinnitus for as long as I can remember, but right around the time I was diagnosed with mc the tinnitus has increased 10-fold. I have to sleep with a fan on just to drown the noise. Could tinnitus have anything to do with mc?

Idream,
I have always slept with white noise (i.e. a fan, AC, etc.) but just because I like the noise. No Tinnitus for me. I have noticed in the last couple weeks that my near-vision is getting blurring, i.e. I need bifocals. But that is likely my age creeping up on me.
I do have trouble sleeping and have night sweats too. Waking up in wet sheets is no fun.

I've had a slight problem with ringing in my ears for years. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 30 years ago that doctors thought was caused by a head injury, which also prompted hearing tests. I have the kind of hearing loss that comes from electrical problems in my brain (can't separate sounds) so I always figured the ringing in my ears is connected to the brain stuff, but I don't really know. My ten year old chronic D problem has been a lot worse since I got E .coli four years ago, but I don't notice the ringing being any worse. I used to use Pepto regularly (years ago) and noticed it was a lot worse then.
I also use white noise to sleep, but that's because I have a sleep disorder and can't stay asleep. It has something to do with the seizures, which are only during sleep. The fibromyalgia makes it worse, too. I can go to sleep, but anything and everything will wake me up and I can't get back to sleep. The white noise makes all the difference in the world. Wish I'd have figured it out years and years ago. I never feel rested, but at least I am not awake during the night as much.
Rich, having been a bedwetter from age 2 to 7 I can relate!

Hi Robbie,
Though I would not be embarrassed to say I wet the bed (with everything else we discuss on this forum), my reference to the wet sheets was from my night sweating. :)
I am still in full control of my bladder, at least for now.

I went to a lot of loud concerts back in the day, so that might have something to do with my problem. I started using headphones to listen to my music when I was a kid, too, and did not start paying attention to the volume till I was about 20.
I do have a new problem of feeling like I'm in a wind tunnel a lot of the time. There is an almost constant whooshing sound in my head. I've been blaming it on allergies, but maybe it's something to do with the most recent flare because it started around the same time.

Robbie,
My hearing has suffered some loss over the years. I hear air flow noises a lot and feel congested in my ears. I attribute a lot of my hearing issue to pressurization and depressurization when landing. Also, I used to do a lot of motorcycle riding.

One or two members have reported an improvement in their tinnitus after the GF diet began to take effect.

I have had tinnitus for a long (years) time. Started quite a while before MC appeared. At times it's quite loud. My hearing is not wonderful either although not so bad I feel I need a hearing aid. I think it's just from "aging" rather than MC.
I do love the fact that we can mention anything here and get some opinions about what might cause things to happen to ourselves and it often helps to hear about what others are going through and what they are doing about it.
This is truly a fantastic group of people.

Yep, Tinnitus for me too. But the MC started 11 years ago and the tinnitus started about 31/2 years ago. My dr said after all the tests that I was just not 20 any longer. Sigh! Sometimes it really bothers me but usually I just try to ignore it. Right now it is screaming since I am focused on it, I guess.
