Sorrow and Admiration

Post by MBombardier »

I have read several updates in my short time on the forum, including a few just today, and I just wanted y'all to know... I am grieved because of the pain and trouble that so many are having, not only health-wise but in other ways.

That's one side of the coin. The other side of the coin is sincere admiration of your fight. You may feel lousy, but you don't sit back in self-pity, you are out there, seeking ways to feel better. Sometimes you even go head-to-head with your own doctor(s), respecting yourself and seeing yourself as worth the effort. And on top of it all, you reach out to others in sympathy and compassion, eager to help them even in the midst of your own trouble.

You are valiant.

Marliss

for me - the strength and the courage for the fight is because of this family. I am not sure what state i would be in emotionally and mentally had I not found this group of amazing people. this group of people are the only people in my life 'that get it'

when i get a bit overwhelmed i think about the challenges and battles others have fought to overcome MC, and some have had to do it way way longer than me
and I may be a bit stubborn, I am not willing to let MC and unsupportive doctors win.

Hi Marliss I can only add to Gabes statements, if it was not for this group I know I would not be coping even half as well. For me the ability to read and share with others on this site has been paramount in my coping with this disease. The accumulated knowledge and experience here is incredible and the time spent here is simply priceless.

By far this is the only site that I have found for MC (or Crohns) where the there is such a group of honest caring and simply wonderful people, a truly amazing place.

I believe we garner the strength for these day to day battles from our time here, reading and sharing with others allows us to support one another for the day ahead.

I'm not sure if I have had a chance to welcome you to the group yet Marliss, but welcome

I agree with what all the others have said and everyday wonder where in the world I would be without this board. Without this board, I know I would feel so isolated and alone, and would certainly not be able to work. Last month when I talked to Gloria on the phone, I realized that it was the first actual contact I had had with someone else who has mc. I am grateful, too, that Tex and Polly and other veteran PP people just didn't go off on their own paths after finding their way through this. Instead they have chosen to stay on and help countless others find hope and healing.
Everyone that shares on this board contributes to someone elses mental and physical well-being. Thanks to all of you, Love JoAnn

Marliss, I ran across this quote just a couple of weeks ago and thought it to be quiet appropriate ,I know for me at times it really is a matter of saying I will try again tomorrow.

This is truly an amazing group of people. There have been times when I drifted away, but I always come back, because even though I'm doing well and stabilized on my diet, I do get discouraged sometimes. And I also feel some obligation to "pay back" to others what I've received.

I agree with everyone else. When I successfully managed eating two meals on the plane and didn't worry about having any accidents, I thought "I have to share this with the board!" Only you would understand what an accomplishment that is. I don't think it's a big deal to anyone else in my family. They think I worry too much about what I eat. I'm glad you are all so supportive.

Morning All,

I totally agreee with all that has been said and must add that in 10+ years with this family "The Potty People" I have developed long and lasting friendships and they bolster me through some of the rough days. Without all of you here and my DH Frank, life would not be the same.

Love, Maggie

Gloria,

Good for you (as I pack my luggage to get ready to fly tomorrow). I have grown so paranoid about flying anymore, and I do pretty well regardless. Having confidence over your situation in the air is a key to conquering this disease, or at least, to not allowing it to control our lives.
