Good visit with GI doc today
Hi All,
I had a very productive visit with my GI doc today. I hope to move off Entocort and we were working on the plan. She was enthusiastic about my diet. She said she has not had a great deal of luck with diet in her practice , but thinks compliance is a problem. She believes in non celiac gluten sensitivity. It was encouraging to have support about the diet.
The current plan is to start weaning off very slowly about the first of December and try to be off by March. I have been on it since July. When the other GI doc told me to wean off quickly, I had a "back to the hospital" relapse. If I can't get off we will try a 5ASA drug or Imuran. I really want to go drug free!
She also encouraged me to go ahead and get the Enterolab testing. She said if I could afford it, it would be interesting.
Thanks for all the support from this group.

Celie,
Kudos to your doctor, (again). It's great to have a doctor who is that supportive. I suspect that she's right on target about diet compliance. According to research statistics, a heck of a lot of celiacs allow "hidden" gluten to slip into their diets, regularly, and the GF diet is a piece of cake compared with the diet restrictions that many/most of us have to adhere to.
Good luck with your treatment plans.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Hi Celie,
Good for you that you've found an understanding doc who wants to work WITH you. Wishing you all the best on your road to recovery - being tested at Enterolab will help a lot with designing an appropriate diet.
