Coconut/olive oil?

Post by Beth »

Hi everyone - I think I did this without thinking in my past flares, but is it smart to avoid oils while I'm in a flare? My rice tastes so much better with a little coconut oil, but I'm thinking maybe it's too hard on my intestines. Thoughts? Thanks!

From reading around on here, most people use coconut oil ok. I can't find the exact threads but if you search on here a lot of people have mentioned it helping them!

Beth,

Naty is referring to the fact that coconut and/or coconut oil is promoted as a treatment for MC by some alternative practitioners. Here's one of the threads that she mentioned:

It sometimes helps to minimize certain types of oil, (such as fish oil and flax seed oil), during a flare, but coconut oil may be an exception. It probably depends on the individual.

I use a lot of coconut oil because it helps with my thyroid, and either it is helping with the CC or it is not exacerbating it. Also, I have found that for me, coconut oil helps brain fog.
