Sick today

Post by randyh »

Well I woke up feeling pretty good this morning, had some rice checks with a banana and two pieces of GF toast with butter. Felt pretty good until about 10 and got some nausea, it went away and then got worse around lunch had to go home and lunch. Got home and started feeling better, ate some leftover GF pasta that we made last night and that seemed to go ok. No D yet, I hear the gurgles. Norman has been visiting for a few weeks now since I went GF with no D. Back pain again as of yesterday. Feeling better now but trying to figure out if its the stomach bug going around or LC is flaring. And things have been going so well, maybe to much different foods during the holiday. I don't know.

It's difficult to say. There are some "bugs" going around, and sometimes a virus can trigger MC for a few days, or mimic the symptoms.

I hope you'll feel OK tomorrow.

Hi Randy:
Sorry to hear you aren't feeling as well these days. Have you been eating the Rice Chex for long? I found they made me sick and so has at least one other person on here ( Gloria, I think.) Don't know why though but I can't eat them.

Randy, some days are just like that and then they pass. I have left work a couple of times and went home took a nap ate something that was safe and I would be okay by the next day. Who knows what brings it on. Honestly I can't tell the difference between a little flu bug or MC anymore. Ginny

Actually, quite a few of us react to some degree or another, to the Chex products. If you do an internet search, you will find that many celiacs also say that they react to the GF Chex cereals. Both Corn Chex and Rice Chex cause bloating for me, and a few aches and pains, but no D. I've never tried the other "flavors". I have a hunch that General Mills doesn't quite have the gluten-free issue figured out, yet, but at least they are trying.

Some people seem to be able to handle the Chex cereals just fine, and I just assumed that everyone was aware of the problem with them, since it's been discussed a number of times. You're right though, Linda, it should probably always be considered, anytime someone mentions having a reaction after eating them, because many people cannot handle those cereals, despite their GF label.

Thanks,
Tex

I had not eaten them for a long while, since I started my GF diet, so that might have been it. I feel pretty good today. I will stay away from the Chex stuff. It might be since I have been GF that I might be more sensitive to some foods that I thought I could eat before. Live and learn I guess.

Happy that there is no D and norman is still visiting. Aches and pains seem to be subsiding today, so that is good. Just get frustrated sometimes. Thanks for all the advice.

Have a great day.

Linda,

It must be someone else that can't handle Rice or Corn Chex. I eat them each every three days without any problem, thank goodness.
