Just don't want to eat, ever feel that way?

Post by IDreamInColor »

I'm sitting here trying to force myself to eat. I get so hungry, but just don't want to eat. For as little as I eat I should be skin and bones. Granted I have lost 17 pounds, but it took 4 months to lose that. This disease has taken all the joy out of eating. The very thing (food) that keeps people alive is the very thing that makes us all sick. I wish there was no such thing as food, then their would be no such thing as potty and no more worries.

All the time. Many times I have to force myself to eat. I just have little appetite. When I first got this 7 weeks ago I had 0 appetite, didn't even want to drink anything. I eat bananas like crazy, seems to soothe the stomach and easier to eat. I agree about food. I am even afraid to leave the house now.

Idream I have had that problem often. I now have lost 43 pounds since last April. There are many times I just eat knowing that I need nutrients, not that I was hungry. This problem is starting to get better now that I am on the Imuran.

Yes, I have to force myself to eat dinner frequently. I have a programmed menu and it doesn't always appeal to me. But it seems to be working and I keep telling myself that someday I'll be able to expand my acceptable foods list and make what I eat more tasty.

IDream, the same goes for me. I finally had to put myself on a time schedule (the same time everyday) to eat to get three meals in and an occasional snack. You have my sympathy. Ginny

Idream,

Yep - many times. However, as you figure out what you can eat without worrying about a reaction, it gets a lot better. I'm in my 5th month on the MC "diet", and I'm starting to enjoy foods again as long as I'm certain they will not cause a flare. Good luck to you on your MC journey - hope things improve soon.

Love,
Kari

I have pretty much given up on eating now too!

AT times I feel the same way since my diet is quite programmed like Gloria's. However, I have had to make many tough decisions along this road like going from 35+ years as a vegan to consuming meat. I had to have the protein. It will get better with time but I totally understand your thinking.

Yep - I hear you

My worst times for me is lunchtime at work, when i see and smell what others are eating, it takes some time to convince my brain that the lamb, rice and sweet potato that i have been eating every day for lunch for the past 6 months or more is a far better option..... it is summer here and lots of people have salads and stone fruit.

I remind myself of the reality;
- the value of wellness is worth the sacrifice I am making ,
- my body needs special attention and nuturing more than my brain and taste buds want food items.
- My body would not have survived the last couple of weeks if i didnt stick to my foods.

the hard work of sticking to the limited ingredient diet and not taking meds is worth it.......

I also have to force myself to eat. Most people would kill for that type of problem (less the MC of course). I find eating breakfast, something I never used to do, helps me a lot in keeping my calories up.

I was adding coconut milk to my foods in order to add calories. But since I got sick yesterday, and the last thing I ate had coconut milk in it, I now have a phobia against coconut milk (makes me sick to look at it).

ok people, it's no time for a pity party!
Get creative, eat some things you normally don't eat...there are a lot of good foods out there, and lots of ways to prepare them.

Stay away from your food intolerances, and remember, some day soon you will go into remission. Then, if you want to, you can eat those foods again, very modestly.

There is hope. I know because I was in remission for 4 years.

Good luck,
