1 week on entocort- is it working?

Post by willabec »

I have been on entocort for 1 week now (was on a few weeks of prednisone prior) and things are much better than they were! i am only going about 1-2 times per day, however, i am just wondering if and when i will have a normal bm? the form shall we say is better but not what i was hoping for....is one week too early to expect normal bm's? i still have alot of gurgling, not on a daily basis and last night was pretty gassy and a little bloated.....not sure if it was what i ate yesterday or from the day before??

Hang in there! One thing for sure - you will probably see a formed BM a lot sooner than I did. I went with diet alone and it took me almost 9 months to see a formed one. No kidding! A good example of why we learn "patience" from our disease!

Great news about your success so far!

If you took prednisone prior to taking Entocort, you should see your symptoms improve quicker than those who take Entocort first. One week is still a little to soon to expect to see a normal BM. It took almost 4 weeks for me to see any improvement the first time I took Entocort. When I went on the full dosage again in March, it took three months for me to see any improvement.

You are doing very well if you have already had a reduction in the frequency of your BMs. The size, consistency and shape will improve as your inflammation subsides and you begin removing all irritating foods.
