hi all, i have recently posted that i have been on entocort for about 8-9 days and that the frequency of bathroom trips has gone down, so that's good! i had also commented that i was waiting for a normal bm and this morning it was worse....not d, but just a soft pile with a film on the water.....from what little i have read here it seems that most people take more time to "adjust" or have entocort work, but it is so frustrating! every morning i stress wondering what "it" will be like and when it's not too good, i get down.....my dr. wants me to update him when i have been on it for 2 weeks, i will be calling him on monday.....i wonder what the next step will be....i assume he will keep me on it. has anyone taken anything else that worked?? thanks!

Morning Willabec,

HANG IN THERE! Entocort is very helpful but it is not a medication that will instantly work overnight. Most people take at least a couple to few weeks to see results. I would stick with the entocort only plus diet and just persevere. It will get better.

Hang in there, it took me almost 2 months on Entocort before I saw a big difference. Make sure you are staying away from your food intolerances.

Good luck,

it will be something you least suspect...I can't eat any dairy except for eggs, and no beef. Also, Ensure made me very sick. It takes a while to figure it out. I don't think a dietican can help you, because this illness is so wierd. Just continue with your food diary and you will figure it out.

good luck,
karen

Dear willabec;

I hope the Entocort kicks in soon. What are you eating? Maybe you should just go down to eating very simple, plain foods, like rice, chicken, bananas, maybe some applesauce, things that we have listed here as probably safe, that few of us are intolerant of, to ensure as best you can that you are not eating things that bother you. That way you might really give the Entocort a chance. It has been my experience that even the Entocort cannot help if you are eating things that you are intolerant of. As soon as I stopped eating "questionable things", even when I wasn't on the Entocort, the D. stopped for me. Of course , I would always want to expand my list of foods and so would try something else and BINGO, I would get a reaction. If I more than one new thing at a time, then I couldn't tell which had bothered me.

That is where the Enterolab tests can save a lot of (precious healing) time and frustration. I also don't think a dietician will be of much use to you for MC. My doc sent me to one years ago and she put me on a ... (you got it).. high fibre diet! It made me much, much worse. Fibre is NOT our friend. Unfortunately, medicine just doesn't know enough about this disease yet to be able to train anyone on how to treat it.

Hoping for your quick healing,
Linda

i am actually going to see the dietician to go over my gf diet...i have celiac disease and according to my dr., my endoscopy showed that i have not healed....so on top of that and mc, i am pretty discouraged. i am going to mention the mc since i will be there...and see what she says...i am trying to stay away from diary, although at times i do eat a piece of cheese....i do eat a lot of rice - i am going to try to stay as positive as possible.....from the little bit i have read here, it seems that it may take a little longer for this to work....if it even does. thanks all for the positive reinforcement!

whether you use meds, diet and meds, or diet only whether you do it with entorlab results or without (Via elimination process) no matter what combo figuring out a) what your triggers are and b) what works for you and the path of attaining wellness will take time, and you will need courage, patience, tenancity.
there will be steps forward and side steps and backwards steps... there is no failures every step is a learning.

many have done it before you. the information that the wonderful people on this site share with us all, will give a few short cuts and help to remove mysteries.

take it day by day, step by step.
