complaining
ok....i really don't want to complain but really.....i was good all day with the gurgling, but at 4:00 had a handfull of gf crackers and in about 1/2 hr. to 45 min. my stomach started gurgling, in the upper left region and i am a bit bloated....what gives??????
Hmmmmm, gurgling and bloating may always be a part of life after MC, IMHO. As long as the D is under control, I am happy!
(BTW, does anyone else think this smiley looks more like he is about to sneeze than laugh???).

Willabec.. what are the ingredients in the crackers? I would be looking very carefully at them. Are they rice crackers .. maybe the is a bit of soy in them?
For me, the gurgling only comes when I eat something I shouldn't have. Otherwise these days I am pretty much gurgle-free.

Polly,
Are you saying that you still had that gurgling, even when you were asymptomatic, and your biopsies showed normal histology? My gurgling completely disappeared, after I reached remission, and I just assumed that happened to everyone. I've seen some bloating since then, but I can usually trace it to something that I shouldn't have eaten, (such as the GF Chex cereals, that so many celiacs react to.

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

And yes, Polly, I totally agree about the laughing guy. And what about this one?
Now what does that look like to you? It always looks like a bent over person to me! (Sorry Tex, don't mean to complain ..love your emoticons, even the weird ones!)

Tex,
No, no gurgling unless I have eaten something suspicious. I guess I should have clarified that. And any gurgling/bloating I might have now is so minimal compared to what it was before remission. (I used to be embarrassed at meetings because the gurgling was so loud). But with my double DQ1 genes and myriad of intolerances it probably happens to me more than to you.
I don't worry about it unless it causes D. (Probiotics cause awful gurgling/bloating for me). Bloating occurs at times when I eat a lot of "gassy" fruits/veggies. I guess my gut is always going to be more sensitive than a normal gut......or a gut that reacts only to gluten. Sigh.
Love,
Polly

My experience is the same as Tex's. I only get gurgling/noises when I've eaten something that doesn't agree with me, and it became an important prompting to suspect the food I just ate.
Now that my diet seems to be working, I don't have any gurgling at all. That's how I can tell that things are settling down.

You never know what you can do until you have to do it.
I'm with Polly. I experienced gurgling when I was doing well but no D. I had the same feelings as Polly, if it did not cause D, I was not going to getting my panties in a wad

Linda,
FWIW, in my defense, the first 16 emoticons listed, came with the original, plain-vanilla board. I added all the rest. And I certainly agree with you and Polly - some of them are a bit "weak". LOL.

I like this one:
It's what Pepto-Bismol makes me want to do. And I sort of like the gurgling. It's entertaining, especially to my family. But as the symptoms have decreased due to the GF diet and no fruits/veggies yet, the gurgling has also decreased.

My father-in-law gurgles non-stop, and at a very disconcerting volume. Everyone in the room can hear it!! He has endured so much ridicule at the hands of his grown sons. He also spends an hour in the bathroom every morning, takes Gas-X like crazy, had a Motrin habit for many years (for headaches, he says), and had a "normal" colonoscopy. "All it showed was a little inflammation."
WHAT?!?!? The man has LC and no one has told him (except me!!). He's old-school and keeps health issues to himself. I told him he will wake up one day and have massive D, almost overnight, unless he does somethinig about it. But he's Italian, loves his pasta, cheese, wine and martinis. It's a lost cause.
But the gurgling is something to behold! Worse than my worst gurgling days!
