Can I go backwards before I go forwards????
Hi All,
Today is day 3 of strict SCD - the cramping etc is gone since last night (probs from the rice before SCD and sugar). My D is more often, watery again! This morning I had a really urgent one - very mucusy and still pieces of rice and/coconut(dark brown-D). Could cashews be causing this to happen? I was fine with them last week - they were undigested, but no mucus. I eat homemade bland chicken soup, very cooked carrots (just a few), steak, homemade applesauce - no sweetener, SCD jello.
Maybe my body is just detoxing the junk out? I sure hope so - I don't see the GI until March. I thought the Apriso was working fine.
THanks for listening! Theresa in ME

Hi Theresa certainly most of us do go backwards first before getting better. You mentioned nuts in your list. Nuts because they are so hard to digest, can cause problems for many here. Initially I tended to make my foods easy to digest. I would, like you overcook the carrots. The steak can be a little harder to digest than something like white meat chicken. I guess a way to think about it would be what would you feed a baby? Things that are simple and easy to digest. This approach makes sense until things have had a time to heal a bit.

Thanks Joe! I am sure the nuts and steak are hard - oh well, off to chicken land again!!! lol. Would cashew butter, or almond butter be easier to digest? I need to have some sort of snacks between cleaning jobs etc. I get really hungry sometimes and need a quick snack - now that craisins are out (sad!!!) - I do like LaraBars - the coconut cream pie ones - not sure if those are too hard too. I will keep an eye on things - thanks so much!
Theresa in freezing cold ME - of all years for my Raynauds to act up again.... lol

I have not tried those butters out yet. I am just starting to get out of chicken / rice / lamb mode. For snack bars I have been eating these

Your right it is cold in these parts. It was down to 5F (-15C) yesterday night.
This is the first year that my Raynauds has not been bothering me, probably due to the Imuran

Theresa,
Yes, most of us can tolerate nut butters much better than the nuts themselves, and they are good for snacks. Check the label, though, to be sure that they don't contain any soy.
I believe the LaraBars are fairly popular for snacks, with quite a few members.
A number of us seem to have problems with cashews, and peanuts. As a group, we seem to do better with almonds, pistachios, walnuts, etc.
I've always found pork to be much easier to digest than beef.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
