moved

Post by Gabes-Apg »

after a week of horrendous rain, the universe blessed me with fine weather, blue skies and sunshine even for moving today.

my body is tired and there are minor symptoms, a few days of rest will fix that. Being in a cooler climate with less humidity will also help.

yes..i have the PC set up (before i have contstructed the bed) as i need to google a few things to find where they are located (ie a laundramat for one) no one has telephone books any more ......

looking forward to some good rest and settling in.

Glad to read that you're moved in. I hope you can take some time to rest and recuperate.

Should I ask - is TK still in your life?

Gabes!!! :australianflag:

Hooray! Let's break out the champagne! :drinking2: It sounds as if all went better than expected and that the gut did well despite some "minor damage" . Now you can relax and have fun exploring your new surroundings. Just look at what you have accomplished in such a short time - a move, new job, and continued healing of your gut. Impressive!

Had to laugh about your setting up the computer before the bed. Whatever did we do before the internet???

Everything is now in place to have a relaxing and healthy new year. And you SO deserve it! Enjoy!

Love and hugs,

Polly

Dear Gabes;

It's good to hear that you are all moved and that the weather (and your digestive system) cooperated! Now to just settle in and learn your new town. I hope you get some rest too, before starting the new job.

Gabes,

It's good to hear that the hardest part is past, and you'll soon be able to relax a bit, and enjoy exploring your new environment.

Thanks Gloria, Linda, Joe, Polly and Tex

the move was like dealing with MC, keeping my mind on the goal (not focussing on the niggles and tiredness)

I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.

i have woken up this morning to blue skies and sunshine, coolish morning with no humidity, it feels like i am breathing new air. after weeks of grey skies and flooding rains it feels like assurance that all the hard work was worth it (i am ignoring the boxes and absolute chaos that is around me)

gloria to answer your question - TK is mostly a very good friend than a partner.
He 'copied' my idea of relocating to this area and moved up here in August. At that time i had got disheartened that my dream would happen (as i had been trying for 9 months or more) , with the mixture of distance, Me having a MC flare, and issues at work with staff etc it was too much we agreed to be good friends. Just when i had almost given up that the dream would happen, the role came up and i had the interviews, TK helped heaps making it easier for me, cooking safe gabes food and giving me a place to rest so i could juggle the transits required, same again when i came up here to find somewhere to live and over the past couple of weeks as I did a few trips with fragile items and clothes etc that i didnt want to pack.

He knows that I am fairly independant and do things my way, he has offered help and i will ask for it if I need it.
the last week he was with family over from NZ for xmas. Eating and drinking with them is way more interesting than eating mashed up salmon, rice and sweet potato with me.
To help my body cope with the physcial, mental and emotional challenges of the couple of weeks i have been having mostly baby food meals and i will continue this for a few weeks yet.

Gabes,

It sounds like you have a great relationship with TK and it seems to suit you both well. I'm glad he's there for you when you need a friend.

Thanks Mary Beth

Love your tag line - another good overcoming MC motto.

This town is pretty good, majority of the streets are in a grid pattern, now that I know most of the key roads i am managing to find my way around ok.
as far setting up the new digs, it still looks a bit like a cyclone has been through it, slowly slowy i am getting through it

Hi Gabes,

I realize that you have just relocated, but I am wondering if you have been able to find any good natural or farmer's markets nearby yet? Also, are there some alternative practitioners and other resources available? What about your acupuncturist? Will you be returning to your previous one or looking for a new one? Also, how about your GI doc? - I know one you saw not too long ago was a major jerk. Will you be looking for a new GI doc in your town? (Good luck - we know how frustrating that can be). Geesh, I sure am nosy - asking all of these questions before you have even unpacked. I guess I am just so excited for you as you settle into your new, less stressful and healthier way of life. Oh, one more question: what is your apt. like? Is it in a suburban/rural type setting or more like a city? Will you be allowed to have pets? Now that's the best stress-buster there is - cuddling up with a warm, furry body!

How lucky that you had good weather for the move. I have been reading about heavy rains/floods in Oz - were they near you?

Looking forward to hearing more about your discoveries and observations in your new setting........

Love,

Polly

Polly
i like all your questions - all very good questions

firstly yes some of the floods are nearby, within a 30 min drive of where i am, i have friends who flooded in at their township (house is fine all the roads are cut) the other day when came up to the new place from brisbane i had to drive through 3 lots of medium level flooding on the highway. it then rained 30mm within an hour and there was more localised flooding, i almost got 'trapped' in my suburb.
hence why i was soo thankful for blue skies on moving day... and the highway was not cut off.

I am suburan at the moment (wasnt quite ready for rural and risks of snakes etc) thought i would take the transition slow and see how my body goes, new job and new living arrangement is a big change.
My unit is bigger than what i had in brisbane, much quieter and alot more private. no pets allowed, and i am happy with that as i dont want to make too many drastic changes at once. There is space and scope for me to grow my own sweet potato etc here.

for me being in a less humid climate has helped alot, there is less traffic around, there is not the intensity of the major city, even shop assistants are nice and friendly! very different to where I was

Acupuncture - shauno and I discussed this and we felt that acupuncture was the balance i needed due to the work stress. if i have less stress at work then i shouldnt need that balance as much. with my new job i will not be managing staff so it should be less stressful so i am going to see what happens. I will be heading to brisbane in february for some other apts so have already booked one with shaun (he works saturdays)

natural therapy - when i was sussing out GF/DF/YF/SF food options up here, i went into the local health food store, the naturopath on staff also has an IBD and totally understood the concept of my diet. for the basics they dont have i can order them online and get them delivered to my PO Box, i did a big order the week before xmas so have enough stocks for 4 weeks, all part of my moving plan! my dear friend who is a naturopath is only a phone call away.

I am researching farmers markets although with the recent floods, there will be no local produce for at least 3 months
there is another organic type place that i need to check out - will be doing that today.

Doctors, i am going to suss out prospects ie talk to people at work as to which doctor they see. As things are pretty good at the moment unless something goes majorily wrong i wont need to see a GI Specialist at all, so it will be the hunt to find a good GP.
As part of my employment i have to go and have a medical, so will see what that doctor is like. I am expecting that it may take time (and a bit of my patience) to find the right one.

I know what my main triggers are, 1. food wise; Gluten, Soy, Yeast, Dairy (in that order); 2. Stress and 3. pushing myself too hard physically and getting fatigued. I am not going to even try any new ingredients for about 2 months or more, give myself time to adjust to the new job, new location, slower pace of life. I slept for 11 hours last night, i only awoke at midnight when people were texting me Happy new year.
at the moment with the move and settling in i have been pushing the physical limit, my body needs that rest and i am still having gooey or mashed up meals.
as long as I stick to the meal plan, and have the rest i need, this should minimise any chance of an issue occuring.

in the wise words of Ant - softly softly catchy monkey..............
