Want to get off of Entocort

Post by wonderwoman »

I began 3 Entocort a day on July 30, 2010 and am down to 3 a week now. My Bm's are normal and sometimes I will even have a day where I don't have a BM. I want to get off the Entocort completely and wonder if I should continue to taper down to 2 Entocort a week for maybe two weeks and then 1 Entocort a week for another two weeks or can I just quit all together?

I will be having a very stressful week the last week in January and would hate to quit and then have a flare due to stress and have to start all over again. My thinking is to try two a week until the end of January to get me through that last week.

I am completely GF but have gone back to having some dairy in my diet. I stay away from soy if it is one of the first 5 ingredients on the label. I can eat 3 oranges a day from our trees and they have not made any difference in the stools. In fact I am going to have one now.

I have been at my daughter's house for 4 days and had a lot of reading to catch up on when I got home.

Welcome to all the newcomers. Hope everyone has a happy HEALTHY GF New Year.

If the end of January is going to be very stressful, why not wait until after then to change your meds at all? It is only a month away. Then you can give your body a chance to adapt without stressing it at the same time.

Good luck! I hope you are successful!

Charlotte,

I agree with the tapering! Stress is something to be reckoned with, as I learned when it caused me to flare recently. If you know it will be stressful, then wait til afterwards to taper, IMHO. Good luck!
