It is amazing that so many doctors do admit there is no cure for MC.. prescribe entocort and then try to get the patient off as soon as possible.. well, DUH! Isn't the goal for the patient to get their life back? Why provide a way to get our life back and then say ... but only for a little while (the short term dosage).

Maybe it is because they are relating entocort to prednisone. A short term of prednisone with decreasing dosage CAN provide a remission that lasts for months.. only to reappear. I was OD'd (given the wrong prescription) on prednisone for a back injury and had a three month remission. But prednisone is a much more dangerous treatment than entocort.. darn near killed me!

Every time I go to see my GI doc, I ask.. does entocort work again.. if you have a remission.. and then have a flare? He said they really don't know. Since I have been in remission for two months now.. not taking entocort.. I will find out...at least for me...

GRB,

If you are sure that your GI doc is going to end your Entocort prescription, you can do what a lot of members do - import a foreign generic product that works just as well as Entocort. I certainly can't speak for other online pharmacies, but the one at the link below has proven to be legitimate, providing good service, top quality products, and at a bargain price. A number of members here use this product, and they have found it to be just as effective as the name brand, (vastly-overpriced), product. A 30-day supply of capsules, (90 capsules) is priced at $40.50, plus shipping. Shipping can be significant, of course, since this is an overseas pharmacy, and the shipment must go through customs, so the shipping cost may amount to as much as the product. Ordering a 3 months supply, of course, would reduce the shipping cost per capsule, since it would probably cost about the same as it would for a minimum order. No prescription is needed with this pharmacy, (since prescriptions written by U. S. doctors are invalid outside the country).

It's waaaaaaaaay better than suffering because of your doctor's unfounded fears, and/or ignorance. Be aware that it takes several weeks for an order to arrive, because there is usually a delay going through Customs.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
