Started Imuran - Wish me luck
Hi All,
I had hoped to get off Entocort using diet alone. After almost 3 months of religious adherence (only one lapse) to the SCD and dairy free diet, I tried to wean off the Entocort. It did not work. I had been taking 11 pills a week. When I got down to 9 the big D returned.
After a great deal of discussion with my thoughtful GI doc and a lot of study on my part, I decided to take her recommendation and move to Imuran for the long term control of my "refractory" LC. It has been used successfully for 50 years and avoids the concerns about long term steroid use.
I got my Enterolab results in December. So, I will be able to use that information to tailor my diet and hopefully get an edge over the LC. I will remain gluten, dairy, soy and egg free.
Please wish me luck on this new path. Everyone on this board has helped me learn about this "difficult" illness. Joe has been a great help to me as he has shared his experience with both Entocort and Imuran.
Thanks to all!
Celie

Although I am not taking information in properly at the moment so didn't fully take your whole post in... good luck with it and I hope it works for you!

Fingers and Toes are crossed.....
reading the posts on the forum this morning the statement 'there is no right way or wrong way to treat MC, there is your way' definately has meaning.
it is finding the 'your way' that takes time, patience and courage. I hope this is the right way for you Celie.
take care
