Just found this info which I posted into another thread, then thought it might be a good idea to stand alone and to see if anyone knows what these trials where and all that jazz.

and here is what is of intrest.

Two recent, controlled trials showed that budesonide (Entocort, a poorly absorbed steroid) is effective in controlling diarrhea in more than 75% of the patients with collagenous colitis, but the diarrhea tends to recur soon after stopping Entocort.

I am still one of the people even with over a year diet, where the CC returns as soon as a stop taking entocort. That doesn't mean the diet is not working, only I am one with double MC genes (the gene marking that is part of Dr Fine's DNA test the 1,1 or the 3,3 markers) with multiple intolerances. Than diet can take a lot longer before achieving remission.

That information was probably written soon after Entocort EC was approved by the FDC, (almost 10 years ago, on October 2, 2001), so it may refer to some of the original trials. The reason I am guessing that it is that old, is because that page hasn't even been updated in almost 6 years. If you look just below the article text, you will see:

Actually, that research was almost surely done after the initial trial period, since AstraZeneca did not bother to try to register Entocort EC to treat CC, (only Crohn's and UC). Consequently, it isn't labeled for treating CC, (no drug is, to date), but doctors prescribe it for that purpose as an off-label use, obviously. I would guess that the study was probably published about 2004, or thereabouts.

You seem to be feeling much better. I'm guessing that the new meds are finally taking effect - I hope so, anyway.

Yeah, I'm in a better place in my head now, still not liking the side effects of the meds though, i'm sleeping a lot and spending the days very disorientated and confused. Just need to get uni work sorted with my year tutor tomorrow to be able to carry on progressing with life. :)
