my first real norman

Post by harma »

It is almost the same excitement when a toddler has his or her first dry night. I just had my first real norman. The first one, since my MC started, since I started the diet, almost since my whole bowel problems started (this summer exactly ten years ago). Another positive part of it is, that I yesterday even lowered my entocort by taking out almost half of the granules out of the capsules.

It is difficult to say how the recovery of the colon works. This little miracle came after a couple of weeks in which the bowels were not behaving so well, I almost thought I had a little flare.

For anybody still in the process of recovery and trying to manage this disease with GF, DF, SF and whatever free diet, don't give up! It is not a quick fix and for some it really takes a while to see improvement (I am on my diet now for 14 months). Even I sometimes had my doubts about it, does it really work?? What helps me going is knowing that it also took others sometimes up to two year to see real improvement.

It's amazing how happy you can be with a 100% normal bowel movement

Harma,

Congratulations! This is definitely a reason to celebrate - the first day of your remission. :toast:

thanks all for the nice replies. Today is a bit worse again, but that doesn't matter, only knowing (and experiencing) that things can go be normal again, is enough. It gives me the motivation to go on. It always goes 3 steps forwards, 2 steps back, but what in total is still 1 forward. And it is the progress in the long term that counts.

Harma

i think the excitement is that you know it can be achieved (like climbing everest) all the hard work physically, mentally and emotionally is working!

that news beats my news, first time in weeks i have woken up to blue skies and sunshine, the past weeks it has mostly been grey clouds and rain......
in MC world, these events mean alot!
