another bad day
i thought today was going to be different b/c i did not go until 10:00 this a.m. - after breakfast. the past few days it has been as soon i get up and it has been a soft pile. it was not too bad this a.m. but then i went again after breakfast (maybe an hour or so after) and then had a slight "burning" feeling in my gut - kind of like i used to do months ago before the meds. then i went again after lunch and boy oh boy it was bad.....maybe not as bad as some of you here, but bad for me.....and it has not been that bad in a few months too!! i feel like i did before the meds, and i am not sure why. so the past few days i have been going 3 x a day ( i know that does not seem like alot and i'm sure alot of you would love to only go 3 x a day) but prior to that i was only going 1-2x a day. i am going to try and take a deep breath and hope tomorrow is better. if not i may call the dr. to see what he has to say. i feel like i am going backwards.

Willabec,
I'm in the exact same boat as you. Up to 3x/day from 1-2. The familier soft pile has become more urgent, more watery, more explosive, and I'm even experiencing gut pains which are rare for me. I spent the evening after dinner curled up in a ball wishing I hadn't eaten. I think my current flare is due to stress and immune system activation as I fight off all the colds going around my house. I'm also eating too much fiber since my husband is on a high-fiber diet and I refuse to cook 2 dinners for everyone. So I've been eating a lot of brown rice, beans, cooked greens, lightly steamed broccoli, etc. Not good. I hope you feeling better soon!

well, i thought again today was going to be a better day and it was for most of the day (better bm's more formed) until a few minutes ago!! i am really ready to cry- it's been like this all week, although the past 2 days have been a little better, i just don't get the urgency and loose stool that occurs late afternoon the past 2 days- what gives??!! i am trying to hang in there....but it certainly is hard and discouraging! i think i'm calling the dr. tomrrow
Dear Wallabec,
I fully empathize. I am over two and a half years into trying to control this very tricky monkey called MC. Especially in the first year it was like snakes-and-ladders...... gradual improvement and then, for some reason, a slide back to the start. Even three months ago I had the worst flare since being Dx...... (I had been off meds - Entocort - for two months and thought I had crossed the wall....... only to find I had not.)
BUT.......
I now feel I have been able to put together a "tool box" to turn around a flare: ......rice.....lean meat and fish.....no fiber or sugars of any sort...... cocktail of Imodium, Pepto Bismol and short term increased dose of Entocort (from one to two a day).
What I am trying to say is that when I cry (and we all do) and say "why me", I now feel that I have a set of things I can do to pull my life back together (i.e. find a way to control the flare). I also feel that gradually (with many ups and downs) the long term trend of gut healing is there.
We are all different..... Pepto Bismol and/or other meds may not work for you......but whatever your chosen course PP will be with you.......
Softly, softly catchy that MC monkey!
Best, ant
