This is too funny.......all of the trivia that we MIs have stored in our heads! I also know that the only soy-free dish at P.F. Chang's is the lemon chicken. However, it contains cornstarch, and I can't do corn.
So, if we go to P.F. Changs, the only dish I can only order is steamed rice with steamed veggies on top (without tofu and pea pods, thankyou) and no sauce. Very bland and boring. I'd rather not even eat!

Love,

Polly

Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes, and specific advice of places and things to eat.

We got home last night, and I didn't have any trouble on the trip.   Mom tires very easily, so we ended up not eating our meals with her. That gave me the freedom to pick meals I thought I could handle. Fortunately I can eat salad, so we ate at Panera and Sizzler.

Panera has a big book with a chart that lists whether their meals contain the main allergens, and then you can flip back and see the entire ingredient list of everything they serve! I had their BBQ chicken salad, and Fuji Apple salad, minus the gorgonzola cheese. For each salad, I asked them to give me the dressing separately. The chicken salad has a viniagrette dressing which may have been safe, the dressing for the apple salad was thick and white, so I didn't even take a taste.

At Sizzler I ordered a steak and an uncut baked potato. My husband had steamed broccoli with his steak and it came completely plain, so I ate some of that, and shared my potato with him. He wished for butter or sour cream on it!

For breakfasts, I bought Rice Chex and almond milk, and we ate in the motel.

So on the whole, the trip went very well. Mom is clearly failing--she tired easily, as I said earlier, she aches all over, and she forgets a lot of things. But she's 94, and until a little over a year ago, she was doing really well, so we have been fortunate.

Anyway, it's good to be home. I'm hungry for rice!!!

Congratulations on a trip well done.

I'm glad that it went so well.

Thanks for the update.

I used to love Phillip's Lemon Chicken, but can no longer eat there because I can't eat fruit and chicken. At least they're in the title and I don't have to wonder about it.

Martha

really pleased that there were no MC issues during your trip. It is an achievement for us MC'ers to eat with no issues when away from the comfort of our kitchens

Sorry to hear that your mums condition has deteriorated, i am sure that you are pleased that you made the effort

take care
