Morning Gloria,
Sorry to hear about the pneumonia and that is from someone who has already gone through it this winter. I would be cautious about the winter visits and know that I start to get congested when out of my element.
Take care and love to you .

Gloria,
I'm so sorry about the pneumonia. Other factors to consider in relationship to your winter trip in addition to the suspected pet allergies:
1) Lost of bugs being passed around on the airplanes (assuming you flew) coupled with lower immunity from the stress of traveling
2) Other causes of poor indoor air quality at her house compared to your usual surroundings (carpeting? gas stoves or fireplaces? forced air heat vs. radiators? artifical air fresheners? smog and particulates in the air in the valley where she lives, etc.)
I hope you tolerate the antibiotic well. Maybe it'll even help the MC temporarily!
Feel better soon!

Hi everyone,
I'm slowly getting better and this new antibiotic seems to agree with my MC. DH is home today and tomorrow and is making a new batch of turkey soup broth for me. Think I can get him to can the broth?
Thank you again for your thoughts and wishes. I'm not posting much, but I'm trying to read - just missing one day means a lot of reading the next day!
Gloria
Post Script: He's canning the broth - pretty impressive, no?

Happy to hear of your progress, Gloria.
I think I'll be making more turkey soup from now on, too. Although I didn't test strictly reactive with chicken, it was very high green (almost reactive), just behind lamb and pork. Maybe we should change our usual newbie recommendation of chicken soup to turkey soup, if it turns out that it tends to be the least reactive meat among those who do MRT.
Keep up the good work!
Love,
Polly

Hi all,
I'm still not back to normal, but things are better. I don't think the antibiotic I was given is very powerful because I was nearly back to normal last year after a week. I realize this could be a different type of pneumonia, but I still had a fever of 102 degrees two days ago, six days after being on the antibiotic. I think I'll be seeing my PCP next week to see if he can check me over. My progress has been pretty slow.
Interestingly, my MC has been behaving very well - and I'm not taking Cipro. I'm continuing to take DF Culturelle every day and haven't eaten any yeast since I began the antibiotics.
I've been craving fruit, fruit juice, jello - anything resembling fruit. I started to look at my list of low-fructose fruits and had to stop because I was drooling. It makes me wonder if the body knows what it needs when we're sick and mine needs fruit. I haven't caved in, but I hope this passes. I did make some gelatin today using raspberry syrup. Haven't tried it yet, but it sounds tempting.
Polly,
I've never been able to find an acceptable turkey broth to purchase. My broth is very simple: turkey meat, sage, parsley, celery and salt. I can't put carrots, onions or other spices in it, but it tastes good to me. The best broth I made contained some juice leftover after cooking a whole turkey. What a great color and flavor! It's pretty easy to make; it just requires time.

An update:
I have improved slightly, but as of Wednesday evening was still having a temperature of 101 degrees, coughing, lethargy, and no appetite. I've been reading posts while lying on the couch these past two weeks.
DH has been home most of the week due to the weather, and has been holding down the fort. We had 2 feet of snow and he was busy helping snow-blow the neighbors' driveways along with our own. Yesterday he got stuck in a snow bank and had to be towed out.
I stopped taking the antibiotic on Tuesday morning. I saw with my PCP yesterday and he prescribed an additional 10 days of Levaquin, 500 mg., plus an atomizer, and told me I need to eat more (I've lost 4 pounds in the last two weeks, down to 94 lbs. again), plus stay hydrated.
Reading about the side effects on Levaquin reminded me of the caution to persons over 60 (check), taking a steroid (check), potential diarrhea (check) and I'm worried again about being on this family of antibiotics.
My MC has been behaving very well throughout this. I'm still seeing Norman just once a day, and he's been pretty perfect.
Because of my concern about tendon rupture taking the Levaquin, I've reduced Entocort to just one today and will monitor how that goes. I'm ready to increase the dosage if necessary.
Thanks for your thoughts and wishes. I haven't felt up to posting greetings to all newcomers, but have been reading everything. My response to a post the other day was from the viewpoint of someone who hasn't been feeling very well - I'm holding back from responding again until I have a clearer head and a better perspective.
