Anyone order supplements from Mercola.com?

Post by Zizzle »

I've been getting Dr. Mercola's email newsletters for a long time, but have managed to ignore the marketing of his products. I'm confident he means well (he has a good reputation to uphold). I just noticed he sells a number of products we've been discussing here and at very good prices!

Magnesium oil (he doesn't advertise it as a supplement...I wonder why)
B12 oil
D Mannose (for UTIs)
Coconut oil
Vitamin D oil

even a portable bidet?!

I'm also considering taking Krill oil instead of regular fish oil. It appears to be soy-free too.

And he has an interesting-looking probiotic (with no mention of milk ingredients on the label)

Here's the link to his store:

Does anyone have experience with Mercola's products?
Would you recommend them or not?
I receive e-coupons and birthday discounts from time to time, so it seems you can buy for less than the posted price too.

I also receive Dr. Mercola's newsletters. I took a peek at a couple of his products I'd be interested in: the coconut oil, and the ubiquinol, since I just discovered that my ubiquinol has soy in it (thanks to Arlene talking about finding soy in her supplements ).

Mercola doesn't say anything about soy in his ubiquinol supplement, which means that it probably does have soy in it, since ubiquinol is still under patent or whatever as Kaneka QH, and every supplement I've looked at except NOW Foods has soy in the capsule.

His coconut oil is not a bad price at the one-gallon level. It is a few dollars under what it costs at Whole Foods for the 365 brand, but if one has the time and energy, finding it through another company like Azure Standard, or through a co-op is less expensive. I use a lot of coconut oil. The last I bought (through a co-op) was $30 for a gallon of organic, unrefined, expeller-pressed, etc., etc.

I also receive Mercola's daily updates. Somehow, I am weighing his advice with a really skeptical look. Too much marketing on his end.

Maybe a stupid or simple question of me. I read quite often here, people take fish oil capsules. I don't question the benefits of it. But has anyone ever considered, instead of taking capsules, eat fat fish on a regular basis (of course only for those who can tolerate fish)?

Just wanted to say that the fish oil I take has no corn, dairy, egg, soy, wheat, gluten, or yeast. No preservatives or artificial colors or flavors, enteric coated, and contain only pharmecutical grade, molecularly distilled wild fish oils that are tested by IFOS to show no detectable levels of oxidation, or contaminants like heavy metals and or PCBs. IFOS is the international fish oil standards program. I would hold any fish oil to these standards to be sure of the quality of the product.

In my opinion only, of course,

I agree with Maggie, and Mags. So all three of the Margarets are in agreement. Formidable. Has to be pronounced en Francaise, though.

Mercola makes a sweeping statement that ALL fish oil is contaminated, so of course we should buy his krill oil. There is way too much testing of fish oil for that to be entirely true, though I am sure some of it is.

Harma, I would like to eat more fish, but I don't think about it. I hated fish for much of my life, so though I like it now, it's not something that readily comes to mind when I am thinking of what to eat.

Be warned Krill is a crustacean, so if you are allergic or have an intolerance to shellfish it should be avoided at all costs. Also, crustaceans have naturally high levels of sulfites, so if you react to those, I would avoid it as well.

Mags, please post the name and brand. I'm definitely in the market for a fish oil capsule without soy.

Harma, here where I live fish is a LOT more expensive than meat is. I can each chicken for less than 1.00 per pound. I can't eat fish for that. Then I also have to worry about the mercury content (being the mother of a child with autism, I am much more aware of that). Personally, I'd eat fish 5 out of 7 nights per week if I could afford it.

I get them from genuinehealth.com . They have several formulations of fish oil but I always get the o3mega+joy. They have some great stuff on the website.
