Hi Kari,

From that article,
Increased immune response

S. boulardii induces the secretion of Immunoglobulin A (IgA) in the small intestine of the rat.[23] Secretory IgA provides protection against invading microbes in the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts.
The problem is, we already have an overabundance of IgA antibodies in our intestines. In order to suppress the reaction, we need fewer of them, not more. :shrug:

To see some old threads on it, search the archives for the key words "S. boulardii", or "Saccharomyces Boulardii". Be sure to select the "Search for all terms" option.
