Having a hissy fit.

Post by Bifcus16 »

Just need to get this off my chest.

Today is my wedding anniversary and hubby wanted to take out for dinner. But I don't want to risk being ill in a couple of days time when I have other plans. Had a good look for places to go that might be safe, and the only ones I would consider trying are basically our local cheapy Italian (known safe) which does not have the atmosphere I desire, one that DH doesn't like, or one a long treck over to the other side of town, which I am not quite sure about. I just don't trust the others enough. Other times I would risk it, but the repercussions would be particularly inconvenient this week.

So instead I will just cook the same boring stuff as usual.

99.9% of the time this doesn't even register as an issue, but today I am very frustrated, disappointed and cranky. Probably mostly because DH is frustrated that he wants to take me out but can't.

I need to take a deep breath and come up with a strategy to make home made dinner more interesting.

At least there is a bottle of Moet in the fridge, which makes anything taste good.

Thanks for listening.

OK guys,

Just getting that down in electrons a few hours ago helped. Hissy fit over. It wasn't a real good day, with the joys of staff management and debriefing a colleague who's dad is terminally ill.

I made a nice Italian meal - fresh sweetcorn on the cob for starters (sorry those who aren't up to that yet) followed by Veal Limone with green vegies and potatoes with a fresh tomato sauce. As good as any casual Italian restaurant.

Accompanied by a bottle of Moet. With a bottle of Pol Gessner for dessert. I will probably regret that bit tomorrow.

Have a good night.

Morning Lyn,

Sorry that you got so down but I know and understand exactly what you are saying. I have just adopted the philosophy that a wonderful and unique dinner is the way to go for special occasions. It is just so much safer and a little candlelight, fresh flowers, good china, etc. make it much more romantic and you don't have to leave a tip.

Also, a bottle of wine just tops it off and never hurts. Glad dinner turned out fine and hope hubby loved it.

Love, Maggie

Hi Lyn, first let me say happy anniversary. I have not heard the term 'hissy fit' in a long time... That made me smile. I love your attitude about just cooking what you know to be safe. I just wanted to say that was a real inspiration for me

Take care

I, too, enjoyed seeing "hissy fit" in print.

Also, I'll agree with Maggie. Not necessary to go "out" to make it special.

It's nice that your husband wanted to make it special himself though.

Thanks family,

You are right of course, going out is not necessary

Glad you enjoyed the 'hissy fit' phrase. I wondered if it would be familiar to you all, but is in common use here. Tantrum wasn't quite the right word.

Hi Joe,

The lake is slowly filling. 6 months ago you were lucky to see any sign of water, but now as you come down the big hill as the Canberra end of it you can actually see sheets of water over the far side. At full size it is about 6 miles wide and 16 miles long, and I reckon it would be perhaps a bit over a third of that now. If our current la nina continues as is likely, it may actually fill up again. I reckon it will be at least another six months before it is obvious as you drive alongside it.

Lyn, hissy fit is a very common expression here in Utah. Sometimes it's the only thing you can do at times!

Happy Anniversary!

Thanks for the update Lyn. I am glad your anniversary went well. It blows my mind that that much water can just disappear. While that's not a deep lake, its a large one for sure. I have seen it both dry and full and am astounded at the process.

Note I will be coming through Sydney on the 18th of April

Best wishes Lyn

Will have to see how that works out. A bit too early to say yet.
