I think what I've experienced is what you all have talked about many times. Once the worst offenders were removed my immune system has had more time to look at other things it doesn't like. Between the onion, peaches packed in pear juice, and the asparagus I'm sure none of those helped--to say nothing of the corn syrup in the peppermint lifesavors. I've also seen avacado on some lists, but not others, so that's kind of confusing. I did eat quite a bit of that on Superbowl Sunday while the rest of my family snacked on all their goodies thinking I was in the clear. Apparently not. Anyway, at least I have a roadmap of sorts. I'll be staying away from all vegs for the time being and eating only bananas and blueberries (and only in limited amounts) for now. Basically, my diet will consist of rice, potatoes, chicken, and maybe some gluten free corn chex. Maybe an egg mixed into something else like Dee's salisbury steak recipe (onion free). I'd rather get to a baseline as was said, and then try to add things back.

Kari,
I'm so sorry that you've had a setback. It is so upsetting. The ups and downs of this condition are like riding on an emotional roller coaster. It sounds like you have been able to pinpoint the problem - that's more than half the battle. The MRT results help narrow the possibilites, but there is still some guesswork involved with the green foods. That's my experience, anyway.
I hope things get better for you soon.

It seems to depend upon how many intolerances you need to eliminate in order to get back on track. I was in a non-stop flare for three months. I eliminated some foods and it stopped for a couple of weeks, but then I went back into a flare. Eliminated more foods, the flare stopped temporarily, and then I had another flare. After I finally eliminated all (I hope) of my intolerances/irritants, my reaction to eating a banana last week was just one incident; the next day I didn't have a BM at all and I've been seeing Normans since.Arlene wrote:can anyone tell me how long these flairs take to resolve? I'm sure it's probably pretty individual, but is there any sort of time frame? Don't expect to see any better results for a week, maybe two weeks? I figure it probably doesn't happen from one day to the next.
I hope things get better for you soon.

Dear Kari,
I am very sorry to hear that you are having another flare.
I know the coconut milk, the first time I tried, it brought instant D. and lots of pain. I've never even eaten the flakes since then!
I know how disappointeed you must feel becasue you have tried so hard to do everything right. You will get all of your intolerances figured out because I know you will not give up until you do! Thinking of you , and I've got my fingers crossed that it's sooner than later.
Hugs ,
Linda

Arlene,
The reason you see avocado listed in some people's no-no lists and not others, is probably because it is OK for some and not for others. I have never reacted to them, for what it's worth ( which is not much really
because you might) I found that when I was trying to figure out my intolerances, if I was reacting, and someone listed a food that I had recently eaten as an intolerance for them, then that food went immediately on my suspect list. I found out about tapioca, peas, barley, and eggs that way. If no one had listed them , I probably would never have suspected those foods. But it could be that you are just fine with avocado and it was something else. It's very frustrating, I know, with all this individuality.. wouldn't it be nice if there was just one list of foods to avoid! Going down to basics, as you said, is the best way and then start adding things back in, one at a time. You are on the right track. But Just keep experimenting/testing ..
Hope you find the culprit(s) soon,
Linda
