Gall Bladder Problem?

I am starting to have some discomfort or pain on the right side of my stomach. The pain goes to my lower back and travels up to my shoulder. Is it possible for the gall bladder to give problems with MC? I believe I should mention this to my doctor when I speak with him next. Also, anyone ever see blood when they get sick after a colonoscopy? I did, but its over now. It makes me nervous about having another colonoscopy.

PeggyAnn, Blood after colonoscopy can be somewhat common depending how many biopsies were taken and were there any polyps removed. It should end within a day or so after the procedure

As far as the pain, with it presenting around to the back, gall bladder may be of concern. Also the it being on the right side could possibly indicate the liver being involved. Either way be sure to mention this to your doctor.

Oh rapture and joy. Liver and gall bladder concerns. I am chuckling and shaking my head. I am to the point that I am not afraid, I am just laughing at life and the curves it throws us. If life thinks it can keep me down, it does not know me at all. I might seem like a flake to those who don't know me (I do walk into walls when I'm deep in thought) however, I am steel when I have a goal. I will mention this to my doctor. I am determine to be able to run this spring and summer. I love running down our beautiful dirt roads. I love the smell of our air, our hay fields, our flowers.

PeggyAnn, I would not worry too much about it. Most of the time these issues are transient in nature and do not persist. I would mention it to your doc and ask for a simple liver function blood test. It will put you mind at ease and its not a bad idea to take a look at those numbers once in a while.

If the pain is continuous or is getting worse I would seek medical attention sooner.

As Joe said, don't worry to much about it. Pain with MC is a funny thing and can move around all over. If it is severe, get it checked immediately.

Before I got diagnosed, my GI would ask me to point to where it hurt, and then laugh and tell me there was nothing at that place that could hurt....funny guy, huh?

Thank you both. I am not really worried, just aware that I need to mention it to the doctor. I assume he will call sometime this coming week. The pain comes and goes. I never know what to expect with this.

This site has helped me enormously in the 4 days since I found it. I am truly grateful.

If it's due to a gallbladder problem, the pain should appear soon after a fatty meal, and persist until the food has passed into the mid to lower part of the small intestine, (the more fat in the food, the more severe the symptoms, usually). The pain is associated with the inability to digest fat, but many of us have steatorrhea as a part of our MC symptoms, even though we do not have gallbladder disease.
