Hi,
After 18 months since my first LC symptoms, and 7 1/2 months of a very restrictive diet, I have not yet completely stabilized my weight (lost close to 20%), and lately I start getting some sigals of vitamin deficiency.( Like weak fingernails, occasional sores inside the oral cavity). I am taking 2 times daily the Multicentrum Select multivitamin supplements, and twice daily fish oil supplements.
My diet is limited to fish, meat, millet, rice, some boiled vegetables and bolied fruit, as I cannot tollerate any fiber or fresh fruit in significant quantities.
Since it looks like the malabsorbtion problem still persists, I imagine that also the supplements are not absorbed as expected.
What would be your suggested remedies: to take higher doses of the supplements, or resort to some other method?
Somebody suggested to take vitamin shots, but this hardly looks practicable on a prolonged basis, I imagine.
Thanks
Marek

there are also powder based nutrient mixes that may work in lieu of the tablet
the catch 22 or vicious circle of this issue is that - to absorb certain nutrients you have to reasonable levels of other nutrients in your system that are required to help the body process and assimilate the nutrients (does this make sense?)
having some blood tests and considering injections if needed could be a good start, the injections may not have to be a long term treatment,
as it has been discussed on this site, it can take 12 months or even more for the gut to fully heal
i am on a very similar eating plan to yourself, there are only about 3 veges that i can tolerate frequently, the home made stock that is high in natural gelatin is good for my nails and my hair (and it helps to heal the leaky gut)
