LOUD stomach noises

Post by jmayk8 »

Ive been on my entocort for about 3 weeks. I am very strict with my gf diet and thinking ive been doing pretty well with df and sf. But these stomach noises are rediculous! And they aren't your normal 'hunger pains'. They even wake my boyfriend and I up in the middle of the night. Why is this happening???

It's caused by gasses and liquids shifting positions in the intestines, and it's a marker of MC. I believe that it's somewhat common with the other IBDs also. Those noises will disappear as you get your other symptoms of MC under control.

Because of that unique sound, we can spot another person with MC almost a quarter of a mile away.

In my experience, you are eating something you are intolerant to. My horrible noises stopped only when I completely, and I mean completely, elimimated all gluten, soy, and lactose from my diet. I am not intolerant (yet) to casein, although you may be.

Good Luck!

Mags

I am sure others will give you better advice than I can. I only know what my experience has been. I am unable to take steroids or Asacol, so I am forced to try to handle this by diet alone.

I get the noises in the evenings if I eat a big dinner, usually a meal with too mmuch fiber or mildly offensive ingredients. They really are ridiculous.

I 'm with Mags and Zizzle..I lived with those noises for 13 years and now that I have finally identified and quit eating foods that bother me, I never get them now, unless I eat something questionable. Certain veggies will do it, or eggs, for me... now when I get them it is a total red flag for me that I have eaten something I shouldn't have, maybe not reactive enough to give me d ( usually) but enough to make the gurgling. Very embarassing  , I agree.

Fructose does it to me. Eliminating it helped tremendously. And elininating the fructans which include wheat.

Goodness, I get those also!! Usually on the left lower part of my abs. I can also feel the movement with the noise. I am glad I found others who experience these symptoms. Good to know I'm not alone.

How about the feeling of fullness long after having eaten something? It doesn't take much to feel full.

Many of us have a touch of gastroparesis, (slow emptying of the stomach), associated with the MC, which causes that symptom.

Wow..... you set me thinking....... When I was 28 gurgling occasionally woke my girlfriend - that was probably my first (unrecognized) symptom of what was to come. I am 56 now.....it is quite a nostalgic thought......

It's a somewhat common problem for diabetics, but rarely seen in the general population. Since it's a form of diabetic neuropathy, (nerve damage), I have a strong hunch that when gastroparesis is associated with MC, the common link is neurological damage due to gluten-sensitivity.

You're most welcome,
